Oil Consumption & Headlight washers E46 330i

I recently acquired an E46 330i 2004 with 167 000.km on the clock. I am slowly fixing it to get it top notch. Issues 1 -The car has 2 pumps on the window water bottle and from the manual the other pump is for the headlights washer. Does this work and if so how do you activate it? 2 - The car needs 0.5l of oil every 5 000.km , is this normal. 3 - Also at speeds of 140 and above there is some air noise on the drivers side like between the widscreen and the door. Although there are no signs of rubber damage and the window does close tightly, is this norm? Can anyone fix this for me. 4- The car uses a cd for its navigation system and its out of date were can I get an updated cd for southern Africa and at what cost? I know most of these issue can be addressed at BMW , for me its a no go area unless ubsolutely necessary. Many thanks

hmmm 2 pumps thats interesting i guess if you look on the front bumper it will be quite evident if you have window washers or not. As far as activation goes it should just work, why would it need activating?

my car uses a little more oil than that, so use is still good, its something that seems to happen on certain E46 330i's only

i had the same issue but somehow it went away, i cant for the life of me remember if i did something or not. one thing worth trying is to oil up all the window rubber channels/runners, go to your local midas etc and ask them a silicone spray or something along those lines and lube up those window rubbers, it might just be that the window is winding up slightly skew and cause air to come through

good luck

First off, the internet is your friend. The E46 is an old car, but has lots of documentation around.

2) That amount is acceptable amount for the car and mileage. It could be Piston Rings or potentially the Crankcase Ventilation System - parts are relatively cheap but labour is going to be costly.

3) Sounds like a door seal

4) Suggest going to the dealer for a replacement.

Best of luck
