Very interesting, especial considering that lower grade fuel acts as a higher grade fuel at higher altitude, and modern engines having knock sensors which auto retard and advance the timing..... many factors to consider.

Also watch the additives explained video, using a high grade fuel from day one in a clean engine is better than de-carbonizing the same engine with additives.

Point is this, know why you add these additives and fuel octane boosters before just adding it because it seems like a good idea.

Very good and interesting info there! Pity our wonderful cars are subjected to the local watered down cr@p that we have here! :smashScreen:

The subaru which has a JDM spec engine loves higher octane its a completely different car... my guess is it is ment to run on high Oct Jap fuel

the e46 just feels smoother and does not mind the bad fuel as much

But there is talk of ethanol fuel being made here, which is basically race fuel once tuned for. :)

only big problem with eth is you need to inject more but if it was available at the pumps I would make modifications for it :)

Isn't 95 cpnsidered premium in most countries? Or am I missing something

many countries now get over 100Ron not at the pumps most modern cars are deigned to run best on 98
