Just managed to get myself a 2005 e60 525i auto as my daily pta-jozi car, the 141kw model. I think so far I've read every horrifying thing that can go wrong from most forums, and have an idea of how to fix the squeaky noise which I get at low speeds sometimes, but goes away immediately when I step on the brakes (apparently it's the sensor). If anyone has more information on this, would greatly appreciate.
My actual question has to do with software upgrading. Currently I can only listen to the radio and play cd's (woo. hoo). I have read that you can get this car to play mp3 discs and enable the aux port for installation simply via software. I'm in th. Pretoria area. Where can I get this done, or where can I get the software to do it myself after buying the obd 2 cable? What other options do I have in terms of upgrades?
I'm also looking for a reliable mech to do the work that I can't. Any suggestions on what I should watch out for? Have longhand the car for a couple of days.
