Evening guys

Im just looking for a bit of advice, im in the process of buying my first BMW (and the first car im buying for myself)
Im looking at the 320D AT, Auto being im sitting in traffic from PTA to kyalami everyday and its stating to get not so lekker with a manual.
Im viewing a 2008 320D tomorrow with +- 150k on the clock, with fsh, is there anything specific I need to look at?

Any advice is much appreciated.

2008 should be the LCI model. You wont go wrong with this car. As it has FSH I assume the normal stuff would have been done. Just check the car idles and accelerates smoothly. The gearbox should be smooth as well. If you do decide to buy the car do a full service and take it to ZF to service the gearbox as well.
All the best.

e90s from 03/2009 are the LCI models, Just got back from ZF, turns out that most e90s post 2011 have GM gearboxes (which are abit more costly to service if you want to get the oil tested,etc...but dont have any catastrophic failures according to the internet).

In terms of the Engine...late model 2008s will have the N47...these are much more refined than the m47 in earlier E90 320d's.

Goodluck

Enquire if whether the damper pulley has been changed. At that mileage I'm hoping it has. Also query if whether the control arms are fine.

All E90 Diesels have ZF boxes, only the 320i, 323i & 325i came with GM boxes

^Thus x 100

Make sure the car has full service history.

Check the damper pulley too.

Depending on mileage, check if the disks&shocks has been replaced as yet

The 320d is the perfect balance between reliability, affordability and power. The only other car that can mange that is a 330d and thats not the topic of discussion. Ask Coisman on the forum run a check for you on the history of the car and if all looks good, go for it. You wont regret it.

Thanks bud, i have messaged him.
Only problem would be to go look at the car as i am in PTA and he is in Kuruman.

Wow! thanks a lot for the feedback guys.
So at the looks of it, majority of the people would recommend the LCI model?

Also, my budget is +-R160 000, so if anyone has one to sell or knows of someone wanting to sell one, please inbox me.

should be the following:
320D LCI
M-sport
FSH
Not to much milage

Look for if any mods have been done. As you don’t want one that was hammered.

Also try get a obd scanner and check for any errors
