Gents with turbos in the mix now from both BMW and Merc, displacement isn't quite as big a factor as it was previously. This can clearly be seen from a car which has had many discussions centered around it, the Golf R, a 2l 4cylinder turbo, giving much bigger engined turbo'd cars a proper run for their money. In my opinion, the decisive factor going forward is how these cars, the M4, C63-S, etc, put this power down!! And as the M3/M4 have shown, they put it down pretty damn well!
