Hi All,

Did some searching everywhere to download a post 2004 map CD of SA. No luck but I did find this site http://www.gpsunderground.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16926 and was wondering if it could be true. I always thought that you can not even swap cd’s with an X5 and now they talk about all of these compatible cars. It could make my search allot easier!

Any comments ??

Firstly, their are 2 different "disks". One is the OS and the other is the map set.

As far as OS is concerned, it is independant of the car. It does have it's own hardware version though - this is usually referred to as Mark1,2,3, etc. I have a Mark IV (4) version in my X5. I think this was the last disk based version that BMW made. If you go to your setting, you can see what version you have; it usually says 4-xx at the bottom of the screen.

The latest SA map CD should work with any OS version (even the DVD based system).

Here's a brief write-up on my upgrade:

HI,

I'm not sure about the version but I have the MK3 unit (CD). The OS is not nice but I will have to cope with it until I can upgrade to the MK4. Will love the 3D view !!

My problem is that I can't find a copy of a new map cd. What I could find out was that Navteq compile the maps for BMW and according to this link you do not need to have a BMW cd but that you can use this VDO Dayton maps.

I have Garmin XT on my phone with 2009 map but it blocks calls due to the duel cim I have in my car kit.

I've got the ISO image of the 2008 BMW Map CD, but it's a bit old now. I'm also looking for something newer, but if you have a FTP site, I can upload the image for you - it's about 70MB.

Would be great if Garmin/Garmap made CD's for BMW, as they seem to have the best maps. Drove side by side with my Garmin and the BMW nav on my trip to ET (Mpumalanga) a few months ago, and the Garmin still navigates on dirt roads where the BM nav does not.

I eventually received the new BMW Navteq disk. Problem is, I have the professional system which uses the dvd, not the cd, and the dvd player refuses to read the disk. Anybody know if I can copy and convert the cd to dvd?

No, I cannot swop it as it took me three months to at least get a disk from the dealer, so I am NOT sending it back to them.

Hi.
Cd or dvd does not matter.
What does matter is the type.
If you have a CD its probably the business or the business HIGH.

Go to my thread and download the pro version and burn to dvd should work

If you could PLEASE rip that cd you got and upload it or send it to me some how I would really apreciate. Thanks man
