Aah I see, makes more sense. I was imagining some serious hocus pocus on that motor and was going to suggest you get rid of it real quick in order to keep the bad Voodoo away:rollsmile:

Yeah I was quite surprised when I pulled the head off, lol. Leonard said A1exander had it yet A1exander had returned it so I gave up looking for it, not worth chasing down a missing part that Im not going to use anyway....

Head, block and crank back from engineers. They needed to go for acid cleaning 3 times to get them looking this good, thats how bad the sludge was.
Head was resurfaced and new valve stem seals installed, valve guides within spec and valves lapped. Block is good to go as all the bores are round, crank is within spec and didn't need polishing.
Block will get thread inserts done as an added precaution.

I am looking at buying an X5 with panoramic sunroof and was reading you post with the problems you had with your sunroof. What did you do to get it fixed? I see on the internet there is a simple mod you do to the sliders which prevents the rear sunroof from tilting and jamming the front one from closing. But that is if you do not have any broken parts already. So, if you have fixed yours on the X3, please tell us what you did! Thanks!

I manually closed it, unplugged the switch and forgot about it. R6k in parts alone to fix it...:blueCry:

Thanks for the reply. This one still works but will give it a good lube and use it as little as possible (probably why yours broke in the first place - lack of use by the previous owners)?

I hit 170 000km in the X3 this week.

Also I collected the last of the gaskets needed for the 3 M54 motors. This should make Wykid happy as they are well priced OEM parts this time.
