In discussions with Rolf for a Behr intercooler. Official manufactures of bmw performace cooling parts.

How does 400 euros sound.

Waiting for specs.

Only after the seasonal holidays....

Feedback :

We fitting a DIY intercooler onto DOCs car hopefully soon. Will dyno before and after. We not really looking for gains, rater air temps.

Will post results and from there negotiate pricing and will take it from there. Hopefully it will be cheap guys, but good quality. Rest assured guarantee and workmanship will be on top of the list

Looking forward to this. All the best with the build.

Importing coolers are mad expensive...we must have this locally produced. :joy:

Twinz : Happy new year my friend.

Locally made is our option of choice here. Please see if you can arrange something local. I need to be as competative as possible.

Happy new year to you as well.

I will raise this with ART.

The input cost to have it initially designed and made could be costly and they need an " aftermarket" IC to work from as well...in terms of dimensions and designs

I paid 10k for my forge cooler for my N54,at that time its was the only decent cooler i could get, came with all the bits and bobs, easy bolt on ,no cutting

The forge coolers are very good built. I have the Race Precision intercooler and it looks exactly the same as the Forge except for the coupling connectors.

Im also going to get involed here.

I will have pricing on coolers for N55 and N54 later today. These are PSR coolers and are similar to the AMS.

Good idea Burgy.

But i think the thought is to explore local manufacturing of the product. With importing we are back to high prices.

I think the Stett cooler is one of the best on the market

WILL NOT FIX XI ALL WHEEL DRIVE MODELS - PLEASE SEE OUR FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER FOR THE XI MODELS Just as with our CAI, the STETT Performance Front Mount Intercooler was the first and still the best FMIC on the market today for the N54 and N55 135i/335i. The stock intercooler is barely efficient at stock boost levels under moderate driving conditions. Start cranking up the boost and you'll quickly realize how fast heat soak will, well, soak in. Not to be confused with the OEM style designs many manufacturers have, our FMIC is a true front mount intercooler (directly behind the bumper - in front of radiator). Capable of supporting over 620hp at only 80% of it's capacity, this cooler is one bad mama jama. You'll have plenty of intercooler to support future power mods like turbo swaps and engine builds.. something a stock style cooler will fall short of. Rather than just build a cooler similar to the inefficient stock unit, we engineered our FMIC to take full advantage of the large opening of the factory bumper so that every bit of ambient air possible hits the surface of the cooler. We limited the thickness of the cooler to 3" to maximize ambient air penetration through the core. The thicker the core, the harder it is for air to penetrate which means you don't have an efficient heat exchange. By going taller and pushing the cooler to the front of the bumper, we expose more of the cooler to the incoming ambient air while the limited thickness allows that air to more effectively make it's way through the cooler for a more efficient heat exchange. We secure this behemoth with a proprietary mounting system that utilizes existing bolt holes so no drilling is necessary and there are not a bunch of brackets to assemble. Our patented mounting system is like NO other on the market. Each intercooler kit comes with everything you need for installation: Intercooler, patented mounting system with hardware, black powder coated 304 stainless steel piping, stainless t-bolt clamps and heavy duty silicone couplers.

WHAT MAKES IT BETTER:

CONTSTRUCTION:
Stock- aluminum core with crimped on plastic tanks; O-ring seals with plastic pipes
Other aftermarket intercoolers- use weak factory plastic pipes and flimsy O-rings that are prone to boost leaks
STETT- double welded all aluminum; 4 ply double layer silicone connectors and stainless t-bolt clamps with 304 stainless steel pipes; most rigid leak resistant race proven technology

VOLUME:
Stock- 425 cubic inches;
Other aftermarket intercoolers- cubic inches varies; under radiator and not at the front of bumper so not directly exposed to all incoming air
STETT- 620 cubic inches (45% more); mounts directly behind the bumper opening and not under radiator to ensure maximum ambient air flow and penetration; most efficient race proven technology

AMBIENT SURFACE AREA (area directly exposed to airflow):
Stock- 100 sq in
Other aftermarket intercoolers- sq in varies; shorter and thicker like stock cooler which makes more difficult for air to penetrate core (less thermal efficiency)
STETT- 200 sq in (100% more); Taller (more ambient air exposure and more penetration- quicker cooling) rather than thicker; most efficient race proven technology

CAPABILITIES:
Will handle 620+HP at only 80% of it's capacity - Works great with turbo upgrades!
IAT's 10-20 degrees within ambient at 620HP or less
Flows over 920+ CFM

Ours are branded Project Shift, although most the parts arent made here, we assemble them in house. So local is lekker

just try to copy one of the better coolers ,so its local as you say:idea:

The Stett cooler requires substantial trimming...been through that. A bigger cooler or more expensive cooler is not necessarily better than the others.

Remember the stock cooler is so poor that (any) aftermarket cooler will flow better.

And with guys running meth which is the real power adder the IC is just for extra cooling.
