N12 VANOS?

So the wife's R56 N12 is now on 117k km and has developed a new weird symptom.

Saturday morning I start up the car and it says it needs a service now in red!

The day before it said a service was due in 6000km tho.

Shut down the engine and start her up again and now it says 4600km till next service?!?!

Puzzled by this we drive to the shops.
Car lacks low down torque. But there is no check engine light or any thing.

Pulling away in first is a bit difficult as too low a revs and it stalls

Came home and check everthing, went through the cars menu/check system, checked air filter etc but nothing seems amiss.

Can it be a VANOS related issue??

Air filter is clean and air box seals properly.

Im gonna remove the two VANOS solenoids and clean them.

Tried searching for answers on the internet but no luck.

Okay

Apparently it can be that the timing jumped a tooth. I do not believe this nor do I say its the problem but it has been recorded as an issue.

But it can be spark plugs as well. When last did you change them?

Look, there's no problem when you drive etc.
Just when letting out the clutch on light throttle that she struggles. And she's abit heavier on fuel.

I changed the plugs on 110k km. OEM parts.

Thinking now but it seems that a new clutch is on the cards aswell.
A slight shudder has become apparent.

Wonder what's that going to cost me??

Just an update.

Removed and cleaned both the Intake and Exhaust side VANOS Solenoid Valves.

A little build -up sludge(very very little).

Put everything back together and the car is back to her original self.
