Been a while since updating this thread....
Got myself a nice APR package from Malcolm
APR's oil catch can kit for the Mk6 R...
As with other APR products, the parts are high quality....
Kit is easy enough to fit yourself too. Removed the troubling and problematic PCV section...
Installed the billet alloy section with fittings. Looks nice with all the APR logos.
Oil catch can kit installed...
Hoses can't be routed elsewhere unfortunately. Looks like APR designed it in a way that the hoses just wrap around their intake too. Even a small covering is supplied to go over the hoses that protects the HPFP.
Also received VWR or Racing Line sway bars with the front adjustable end links from Shaun at VAG Cafe.
Also of top quality, the Racing Line sway bar kit comes with uprated bushes.
Sway bars are hollow to be lighter and have 3 way adjustment compared to my old H&R's sold bars with 2 way adjustment
And the Racing Line front adjustable end links. Recommended if you really lower your car the way I do. These things weigh nothing and are also top quality.
The links uses spherical bearings...
The kit was installed by Patrick from Patrix Service Centre. I fitted a brand new steering rack at the same time cause of the crack I had on the old mounting point from the accident. Car was done and I was very impressed with the work!
I also decided it was time to revive my car's old look and I had the OZ wheel I found on ebay colour matched to my 3 other wheels.
The result... Nothing beats the look of a set of OEM OZ Ultraleggeras...
I'm happy to say that my R is back where it always was. Still very reliable, fast and so much fun... She is back and just like she was... Only better with a few more upgraded parts.
Future plans? Well when funds allow, I want to ceramic coat the paintwork.
I would like to do the APR clutches for preventative maintenance one day. But for now, on the pump 95 map, the car holds up fine and is still super fast.
I am contemplating a track day or two with the car. Not straight line though. I think it has gotten boring and the politics have really cheesed me off. I may attend Dragwars for fun this year and a few Street 2 Strips. But with the mods I have on my car, she is crying to be used on a track. I may need to look at VWR's big brake kit as well as I do not know if my upgraded brakes will be enough.
