My VW Golf R

So I received my car in perfect condition on Thursday. Car was in a flawless showroom condition.

I parked the car off in the garage. The lines and paint just match perfectly.

As it had been standing so long, I wanted to have my local VW do it's annual service and at the same time replace the oil in my motor because of her standing so long.

Car was serviced and I received nothing but great service again. I did mention that my steering wheel just needed to be centred. Car was then taken around the corner to our local Tiger Wheel and Tyre to perform wheel alignment and centre the steering. VW phoned me to come collect my car in the mean time.

As I arrived, my car was still on the alignment machine. The technical guy working on my car at TWT did not follow correct procedure when fitting the clamps to the wheels. The pins that hold onto the wheels were placed in the wrong holes. As a result, my fenders now look like this.

Both sides look like bacon fenders when he tried to centre steering. The pins should have been placed like this...

I approached the owner who immediately took action and has offered to pay for all damages. Two new OEM fenders will be ordered from VW as soon as his insurance approves. And then the car will return to the same bodyshop for paint and assembly. Really was so chuffed with the work but it looks like she will be going back again. :(

Really is sad as I have been doing business with TWT for 4 years here. The techie that always worked on my car worked with so much pride and was always so careful compared to this new negligent guy that is now working there. At least the owner of TWT is constantly updating me with news regarding his insurance and will pay for the damages. On the one side, I feel very sorry for him. Not his fault a stupid employee wasn't being careful. But it is the risky part of owning a business with staff

Eish sorry to see that update. Now it's a longer wait again. But you can probably drive it in the meantime?

This thread is beyond awesome. You can see the passion that goes into the car, especially after the accident to get it back into the road.

Sorry to hear about the fenders, at least they paying for new fenders. Just a little more patience bud.

Eina sorry mate. For what its worth Mr Porra your VW R looks really good.
Thanks a lot guys! Yes, car is mechanically right. Drove her a bit the weekend. And it feels so good to drive something that you are still paying so much for every month. Car will only go in when parts have arrived and been painted as the bodyshop still has some of my paint left that they matched. Hopefully this session is just a cosmetic fix and shouldn't take too long.

Sorry for the troubles you are going through Porra but hopefully will be sorted for you quick quick now and you can get back to enjoying the beast :=):

You are a bigger man than I.

I think I would have used the techies head as panel beating tool if he did that right after my car came back to me after such a long wait...

Thanks a lot for the comments guys!!

Few things have been done to the car. My local VW has done a fresh oil change. I also fitted some new BKR8EIX plugs just for piece of mind.

Logs on the car look spot on and car is still running healthy boost and timing. Zero timing pull so I am happy.

Few small niggles that I have picked up:

My Auto Polar FIS isn't working. Unit that displays live data on my MFD. Even my bluetooth and radio doesn't work when I connect the FIS to the Gateway. But the Polar FIS itself is ok cause if I plug a USB cable from it to a PC, it picks the unit up and I still managed to update the version to the latest 0.5.1b.

Upon closer inspection I found this.
e1af1c1f9dd1547d9453cc2d7f1ecb8a.jpg

Possibly damaged in the accident from when the knee airbag deployed?
962941ae64efd93e029347817f34a017.jpg

Shaun got me in touch with the FIS tech support guys and I managed to order a replacement cable via DHL with them for 58 Euros.

The wipers only operated at one speed and only very fast which was annoying as well. Inspection showed damage to the switch by the wiper stalk. Possible that I bent the stalk when I had the accident? But replaced this with a new OEM unit.

Brake pedal was a bit hard. Closer inspection revealed a cracked hose coming from intake manifold which goes to the brake booster.

Installed a new hose and made it shorter as this pipe seems to rub against my carbonio intake and make it perish quicker over time. Read up on the Vortex that this happens with nearly all canister type intakes like APR's carbonio and the VWR as well. Guys running open intakes like Evoms are safe.

Other than that, the car is perfect. I am still driving her. Awaiting TWT's insurance approval and then 2 new OEM fenders will be ordered. As the bodyshop still has some paint left of my car, they will spray the fenders and then contact me to bring the car in so they can fit them.

Here are pics of the car. Lines and paint are perfect, minus the two small fender dents. Love how she looks with the Pretorias and they are really growing on me.
