So after much deliberation and heartache I decided that it was time to let go of my 335i. It was a sad day but I know that right now it made more financial sense for me. To me my 335i was indeed a special car and I know that I could not afford something as special right now so going into this I knew I would hate whatever I bought.
So I had spent a month looking for something that would replace snowy, the must haves were:
Sunroof, PDC, Xenons
Something I could find I could find in almost any brand of vehicle, so the test drives began and my choices were a between Audi A4's, BMW 1's and 3's and VW Golfs and CC's. All 2015 Models with under 20000kms
Test drives and of course my first choices were the Beemers, however in my price range I could only get a 120i Msport LCI or a Barebones 320i LCI or a well specced 328i pre LCI. As this was a purchase that needed to be a wise one I wasn't going to go with the pre LCI as I felt I was going to lose too much value but the 120i and 320i just weren't ticking the right boxes for me and left much to be desired in terms of power or spec.
So my attention turned to Audi, they were giving me some great cars with some huge discounts and the service from the salesman was exceptional. After much searching he brought through a 2015 Audi A4 1.8t Multitronic Sline, with every extra available including NAV.and 19' wheels. Test drive done and boy was I not impressed with the performance of this car (again very subjective, I used to drive a 335 :rollsmile
but then my brain kicked in and it was a really well specced car, Mplan to 115000kms, practical me was sold and I went on to sort out a deal even though in the back of my mind I knew I wouldn't be happy with this but I would learn to live with it. I got home that afternoon and spoke to my dad and hold on, new model A4 will be released next year, well there goes my resale value :thumbdo:
So after chatting to AshG108 I decided to have a look at a few VW's, In may last year I looked at a VW CC rLine that I loved but just never went ahead with. So with my deal pending with Audi I test drove a White Golf 7 Gti, Demo, the car was a Manual but had Pan Roof and Xenons which ticked the boxes. Test Drive done and I went to have lunch at a nearby restaurant while I pondered upon this Golf. Now having owned previous gen GTi's I knew they were great cars, exceptional all rounders but I never thought I would buy another GTI after moving over to BMW. Here I found myself in a predicament, I liked this car, a lot and the more I thought about it, the more sense it made. Back to the dealership I went and my darn luck, the car was provisionally sold.

The salesman turned my attention to another Demo. A Black 2015 Golf 7 GTI DSG with 9000kms on the clock. BLACK, BLACK, BLACK, a color I said I would never purchase again, I immediately turned him down but he persuaded me to take her for a test drive. Little did I know, 3days later I would be taking delivery of this same black car I had no interest in.
So here she is.
2015 VW Golf 7 GTI DSG,
9600kms, Pan Roof, Xenons, Front & Rear PDC,
Reverse Camera, Lighting Package, High Beam Assist, Lane Change Assist, Driver Alert System, Kessy (Keyless System), 19' Santiago Wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-zero's, TPMS
So I had no misconceptions or any foul notions that this car would ever live up to Snowy so I went to this with pretty much a clean slate. It isn't a spectacular car performance wise but from a an all rounder perspective, VW has really come to the party. What a package, the gearbox is amazing, the ride even on 19"s is superb, the standard kit is also exceptional.
Made a trip down to Durbs last week and the consumption blew me away, I was used to 14l per 100, I never once expected to see 7.1l per 100 from a Hot Hatch regardless of the claimed figures.

All in all I have a good feeling that I will be happy with this car, a good compromise. some aesthetic mods will be coming in the near future and maybe even some performance mods if I find a dealership who won't cancel my plan.
My apologies for the long write up and Thank you for reading :ty::ty::ty: Definitely more pics to follow.
