I know its not a beemer but since I spend more time on this here forum, I figured I might as well show it off

So in 2016 i purchased a Hyundai I10 as a daily to commute from Kemptom to centurion. Quite a lekker little car. I had my beemer parked off for nearly 8 months until someone made me an offer and i decided to sell it. I then bought an 05 passat 1.9 TDI to play with as a project car
As some of you know, In Feb last year the SO and i were involved in an accident (damn drunk driver)which left both of us injured so i needed an auto. After a few months of physio i decided i need to get another car. My requirements were

It has to be light on fuel
Reliable and easy to maintain
Auto (cos of my both our injuries)
Cruise control
Steering controls
White or grey
Sunroof
Leather seats (cos of the kids)
Boot space
And something i can mod

So after a few months of test driving a few hyundais and audis which never really impressed me i decided to look at the jettas. The jetta 6 was out of my price range. I always fancied the jetta 5 so i started looking into that as at the time of its release i could not afford one

Enter the Jetta 5

After searching for months on end i saw it on the net and arranged for the dealer to meet me at work. After the test drive i fell in love with it

It ticked all the boxes bar the sunroof and colour which i could live without

So after doing all my checks i decided to pull the trigger and traded up the Hyundai and Passat

There was a noise which was misdiagnosed and the dealer ended up changing the flywheel , dsg clutches and all 4 injectors (all OEM)

So what i have here is a 2011 Silver Leaf Mettalic Jetta 5 1.6 TDI DSG comfortline

Extras include
Paddle shift
7 Spd dsg
Mfsw
Leather interior
Heated seats and mirrors
Mp3 and bluetooth radio
16" alloys
Towbar
And lastly, something i can mod

Word is that the cluster , climatronic, radio, steering, engine and box are all golf/jetta 6 bits

Its not a quartermile car but it does the job with minimal effort

Cant wait to start modding

Pics to follow shortly

Congrats Tris!!!

I love these cars as well, i like the Jetta 6 but it just did not do it for mw. The jet 5is a more solid feeling and drive and maintenance is great!

The car is awesome, I also looked at getting one of them (the 2.0TFSI DSG) as a daily.

you correct, all or most bits are shared with the Jet6 cause they were just aout releasing the jet 6 at late end year 2011.

Beautiful car, you can now chirp Charlton on his fuel consumption as well as yourl both have the same cars but one is a 5 and the other a 6.

Enjoy bro!

Congrats bud on the new wheels, my wife had the A3 sport back which would probably share the same motor. Lovely cars to drive and very decent performance and consumption ....

Tx man

I have a list of mods that I want to do as time/finances allow

Exterior
Vortex front lip (laying in my garage awaiting paint)
OEM Xenon headlights
US Spec GLI Grills
Gli/GTI side skirts
Colour code the rear lower black piece on the rear bumper
3 piece boot spoiler
18" scirocco wheels (cant remember the correct name)
Slight drop (remember this is a family car, for now)

Interior
Led interior upgrade
golf 5/6/7 Gti dsg shifter as the current one looks k@k
Side mount subwoofer install so It does not compromise boot space

Performance
None for now, the 77 kw motor is fine the way it is

RKMotion - that 1.6 TDI can hand out some good power...check the threads on the Polo TDi's that have been done already. Not bad at all and you will enjoy that extra grunt

So this happened a few days ago. 2 roads away from work. Turnes out that the lady who drove into me works with me as well

Nothing major, just somebpaint off the rear bumper and a little dent on the bootlid. The towbat took most of the hit. I was wanting to remove the towbar but this mishap changed my mind

Now i have more reason to do the colour coding and get my front spoiler fitted

I pulled away from the stop street and then stopped as I saw a car coming from my right, she was also looking at the right at the same time moving forward and did not notice I stopped

Looks like I got baathies at the beginning of every year with accidents :thumbdo:

Im going away for Dubfest and was hoping to take the car with but my Panelbeater is extremely busy (getting his car ready for Dubfest) so I don't want a rush job

I will definitley look into SW and DP. I just want to make sure that the motor is healthy before I do any performance mods on it

Loving this fuel consumption

I filled up the tank on the 5th of Jan and this is with mixed driving from kempton to centurion and back daily

The first click stopped at R670.00 and i told the bowser to round it iff to R700.00 which was about 51 litres. Um attempting to squeeze 850 kms out of a tank of fuel. Suffice to say, this car is lighter on fuel than my Hyundai I10
