Hey bro sales guy told to me the to run in the engine for 1000km but the manual says 2000km. I am on 980 km with these cars you can't resist but punch it sometimes plus the tone of this car doesn't help the case :=):

I read on another forum that you should randomly push it to 4000 to 5000 rpm during the run in period to work the internals, according to a bmw tech driving at constant speeds could be be bad during the run in period.

That's what i read, don't shoot the messenger

Once again enjoy this and many happy miles

2000km for a new engine? wow....that's a lot! I would have thought its 1000km only...

But please stick to it if you want to reach 100.000km with the first engine and automatic...

The advice of Treschen is right....no full throttle...but also not to slow all the time...vary speed and throttle as often as possible...do not drive hundreds of km on the highway with same speed/rpm....
