My Journey to a Z4 Coupe

Thanks Guys
although I do want to change the door step sills and wrap the interior bits, aesthetic upgrades will be put on hold for now.
I will rather focus on mechanical as the only thing ive done in my ownership is an oil change.

My list below.
1) cooling system maintenance, I have bought a new OEM water pump and coolant, I jest need a thermostat before work can be carried out.
2) Vanos solenoid clean or replace?
3) New spark plugs
4) fuel and air filter
5) although I only did about 4000km since my last oil service , I will change the oil out again as its been a full year

not sure if I should change out the oxygen/heat sensors?

So Finally the big ticket item...
as preventative maintenance and the only blemish the N52 has is water pump failure after 150,000km. I am lucky I'm on 178000km and no issues but ever since I bought the car this was on my to do list.
There were cheaper options but I opted for OEM parts only, mechy says he will also scan the car after and will only change sensors if necessary.
Air Filter and plugs will also be changed.
Coincidence I have done exactly 4000km since 19/09/2017 , this was also the last oil service done, but since a year has gone by I have booked it in at BMW Sandton for next week.
car will be in tip top mechanical condition after this.

New to do list.
1) New Wiper blades
2) Bottle of Ceretec after oil change
3) Annual Alignment
4) Front bumper to be re-sprayed for the 3rd time
5) Decat
6) M Steering wheel (if I can find one)
7) Selected Interior trim wrap
8) Roof lining to be done in anthracite.

Ok so with these cars getting rarer you have to jump on parts when available.
I was lucky enough to source a Steering wheel from an M Coupe.
I also got the kick plates as mine were quite tired.
few months back I bought a weather strip for the drivers side as I had tear and looked sloppy. also got me some new grab handle covers for the doors.
I was quite busy this weekend...

Some before and after Pics
Quite a transformation :fencelook:

Small Update

I managed to source a second set of aluminium dash trimmings, I didn't want to alter my orignals as they still in good condition, note these are proper aluminium , quite weighty and not like the cheaper trimmings I have on my E90.
my long term plan is to get it covered in alcantara with M stitching like the steering wheel, but for now I had them wrapped at KNS in gloss black vinyl.

the interior of the car is completely different, below was done.

1) OEM Red M Seats
2) OEM matching red door cards
3) OEM M Steering wheel
4) OEM M anthracite Roof lining with matching pillars and sun visors
5) OEM M ZHP shift knob
6) OEM M Kick plates
7) OEM New rear view mirror as old one had a fluid leak
8) OEM New grab handle covers
9) Dash trimmings wrapped

I'm done with the interior for now, feels like I'm sitting in a complete different car..

Not much happening here
just did the annual alignment and finally got me some new wiper blades , now more squeeks:cartel:

does anyone know why the headlamp washers spray but the winscreen washer doesn't.
I can hear the pump so I don't think its that...

Are all the hoses connected properly and not clogged? Best thing is to trace the hose from the reservoir to the sprayer.

Hey Mo,

There are the two pumps, one for the windscreen and one for the headlamps. If both pumps are working, then the other thing to check is the little filter in the pump - it can get clogged. For me it was the actual pump for the windscreen that had failed.
