Nige is sharp

He did my auto to manual conversion. He does go the extra mile but dont ask to document with pictures. He is too busy for that. He will allow you to take pictures though.

Expensive update :smilebounce: :

For the people that read my for sale thread will remember me rebuilding my motor. The car went in on the 4th of June and I only picked it up this past Friday. These were the items replaced :

- Complete Headset & Gasket
- Head Bolts
- Valve stem seals
- Timing Chain & Tensioner
- All new belts
- Main Bearings
- Big end Bearings
- Conrods
- Piston Rings
- Valve Guides
- Oil
- Anti-Freeze
- Spark Plugs
- Filters
- Thermostat
- Waterpump
- Water pipes
- Coil packs

Missed a few items.

So the car is still settling in, I am driving it slow and waiting to push some mileage - Afterwards I need to send the car back to Re-torque the head, put in new oil and an oil filter.

So far the car is driving well - Feels much more lighter and linear and the revs sound much more smoother through gears. Didn't think it would of been such a huge difference.

Once the car settles in I will take it for an open drive and maybe Dyno it to see the difference in power she is making. However, the car is overdue for a clay & polish which I intend doing next, I will post pictures of the car than (Interior, Exterior & Engine Bay).

I do have an interested buyer and I will let it go if he chooses to take it however I am very undecided on selling and will put it on hold for now. I also have a 1 year warranty on the Parts & Workmanship, thankfully.

And most importantly,

@Nemo - Thanks for taking me on Friday Brother - I didn't even have to ask :ty:

Thanks for reading guys.

if it was around R23k like previously mentioned i should maybe do mine as well end of the year.

if you decide to buy parts yourself (to save on workshop markups) , would Goldwagen parts be good enough , or should everything be bought from BMW?

Re-torque a head that is fastened with stretch bolts?:fencelook:

It's a valid question as you don't re-torque stretch bolts because they stretch on first use, hence the name.
Also, you should rather use the PM function to sort out your issues and spare us the drama.

OP, I don't see head bolt threaded inserts on your list? Also, what was wrong with the conrods?

It is actually a valid question. Because as Zach already mentioned, one does not re torque stretch bolts, unless it has been replaced with something else like studs or the like, and then I would like to know about it.

So you can go fly mr. know it all, because you are seeing ghosts where there are none.
You really are the :bin: of the mod team......forever trying to provoke me

Judging by his responses and car history he has lost the passion for BMW and those who drive them...He should leave this forum to those who are passionate about the brand and keep his 2c comments to himself on subjects he knows nothing about.

Did the block get inserts done? Why were the conrods replaced? Were they damaged?

Don't take the car back there if they say the headbolts need retorquing, its bs. Do the oil change yourself.

The headbolts are stretch bolts, one-time use only. They should not be re-torqued if the head was torqued down correctly the first time.

Either the OP is being lied to or its incompetence, either way it puts doubt in the work they have/haven't done.

@Zach - I spoke to my mac on Friday where I myself asked about the re-torquing and he said it is only an oil change & filter, I can do it myself however I will void the 1 year guarantee. He does not do the invoices, the person could have copied and pasted that report on mine. Same as what I did when posting the list of items, Hence I also mentioned below that "Missed a few items".

The work is done, the car is running thus far, why don't we leave it as is? I honestly don't find the point of keyboard wars or back & forth comments, the very reason I agreed for Yuben to remove the posts.

Thank you

Guys lets be cool in this thread. The OP can give us feedback as the months go by. We all have alot to learn from the views of forumites but nailing the same point over again aint helping the OP who has already taken steps to review the concern raised by members.

Preshen post some pix of your ride too

I created a thread about 6 months ago regarding upgrading the audio in my car as everyone knows how ridiculous it sounds.

So this past Friday i decided to strip the door panels, side sills, removed the seats and deck.

On Saturday I ran the wiring , mounted the front speakers and put all the panels back together as I needed to use the car. Also getting frustrated with the amount of things that were stripped.

On Sunday I went to Builders to buy materials for building a sub box, however due to the time and having still so much to do - I decided to buy a temporarily sub box and left builders to give myself time to think of any more ideas around building the box.

I ended up finishing at 1pm Monday morning - Cut the heater box to allow the Double din to fit - Was kind of disappointed in doing that. Connected the amp, sub and double din. Sub was not working but I left it as I was tired and needed to sleep.

Last night I sorted out the Sub and tuned it a bit, not yet happy but it already sounds a million times better!

I also wanted to buy an ISO harness to avoid cutting the original harness but when i stripped the deck i noticed that the entire harness was cut and joined again. I assume the previous owner had a single din deck and put the original one back when selling the car. Although the entire system other than that was still stock.

I don't think the passenger door was opened before.

Anyway, I used the following :

Targa Double Din - Will be changed in time
6.5 Digital Design Splits
6.5 Digital Design Coaxials
Audiobank 4 channel - Will be changed, but quiet a decent amp
10" Rockford Fosgate Sub
Reference Audio 4 gauge Wiring

I will post more pictures once the box is completed and when I align the double din properly with the trim plate on. I got documenting problems so I will try do as much as possible when finishing off the installation :hammerhead:

Lastly, A random shot at a run I attended a few months back.
