Have you done alignment since doing the coilovers? Front camber increases when lowering it. Shock towers need slotting if you don't have camber adjusters.

That E46 looks so sexy in black. Also 330i <3. I wasn't a huge fan of black when i got my E90 but it grew on me. Keeping it clean will drive you mad if you are as OCD as I am.

Happy miles!!

Looks great.

Is this pitstop carwash?

I actually never noticed the name. Lol

It is behind the Makro/Hirschs on Hendrick Potgieter in the West Rand. Directly opposite Clearwater mall. Not sure if that is the name. Very nice car wash though.

Same place Bro. They do a good job there

I am replacing my tyres by today or latest Wednesday, So alignment will be done than. I will let you know the outcome. I did notice a difference with the camber, I was actually expecting that to happen. :fencelook:

Small Update -

Like said in my previous posts. I will be replacing my tyres. So I ended up only replacing the rear at Tiger Wheel Rosebank. (Tyres were not completely worn out.) The front still has more than 70% life on them so i didnt change the fronts. Keeping the rears as spares.

I own the car for about 1 year and 3 months. I only did about 22 000kms which includes two trips to Durban and one trip to Bela Bela. I already did one service as it was due. However I have about 12 000kms to the next service. I will be doing an Oil Service (Oil filter and Oil) now, and will do a complete Service in 12 000kms.

Using Liqui Moly. Will also do an Injector clean.

Anyway I decided to do alignment as well,

Why? Because... Its the right/Normal thing to do. :smilebounce::smilebounce: and because of the difference with ride height from the coilovers.

So after the alignment I got a long lecture from the employee there.

The front wheels are sitting negative 1.4 and rears 2.4 :fencelook: if I tried to adjust it. It would probably result in my outer tyre rubbing aganist the fender lining.

So welcome to my official weekend 330i :smilebounce:.

Firstly you only going to get proper aligment done at BMW for these cars due to them adding weight to the car before doing alignment.

So basically what BMW does is cater for around 2 people and luggage in the boot before doing alignment to get accurate reading. Where as fitment centers do it without weights.

Last time I checked the front camber should be about 0.70 Degrees and Rear around 0.30. Also note the front left and right wheel will differ slightly in the degree of camber.

All depends on your wheel size and suspension.

After lowering the car my camber went really negative without even trying to adjust it.

Hi Guys.

There is no real update. However i took my car for a check up last week Friday. The car is currently with the Mechanic.

These were the points I noted to him

- Front wheel bearings
- Steering Angle Sensor
- Car smoking a little (Valve stem seals)

So he comes back to me saying that he completed a compression test and it is low and due to the mileage been over 200 000km I will need to overhaul my motor. That sounded great, infact that is what i expected. The reason i took it to him initially is because he gave me a very decent price late last year for a complete overhaul.

I know it is not a must and I could try changing valve stem seals, or tappets covers, however I have aftermarket warranty. The warranty will only cover if the motor is stripped. So redoing the motor is fine with me as they cover a fairly decent amount.

The oil is not burning heavy. On the road you won't even notice it. The oil level also takes a while to drop.

However, the quote he gave me last year, literally doubled this year. Apparently the price of pistons shot up, I feel this guy is getting greedy. So I requested that my car comes out, I will pick the car up soon.

I then called Nige Auto in Benoni. A RMI approved mechanic. I dealth with him before and I never had any issues with him. So I cannot judge. He gave me the same price, he gave me a few months back.

The reason I am not mentioning the Mechanic is because I cannot judge that his workmanship is bad. I feel if someone gives you a price and you agree, that is your own thing. So i cannot derail him. However, his price last year and Nige Auto's price was very very similar. Like a thousand rand difference.

So Nige did say that he is busy at the moment. I will be sending my car there probably end of the month. As he is busy up until next weekend.

I asked him to overhaul my motor, basically make it brand new. That is new gaskets, seals, rings, bearings, water pump, oil pump, pistons, sensors, valves, everything.

I will ask him if its possible to document it for me. If not i will pay visits and see the progress and take pictures where I can.

So a huge update pending...

phew, what's the quote on sofar?

About 23k so far. That is with new Engine mountings if need be. I personally think it is a very reasonable quote. That is if I am calculating correctly. I will confirm once done

So I decided to wash her up. When I took it to the mechanic the car was in a state due to it been parked outside with the rain.

I also raised the coilovers when it went in. So I decided to drop it again, I don't know why when I am gonna need to raise it when it goes in again end of the month.

I ended up having trouble with the adjusters been tight. Q10 did the trick.

Pictures never did justice when I lowered the car. I feel this picture came out nice.
