Lovely car, personally I would keep the style 32's on the car or another OEM rim.

or even a set of 68's. :fencelook:

+1000000000 sexiest rim on an E46

Sank with a 20mm spacer the 41mm offset wheel will become a 21mm offset which is what 5 series run.

True, but the standard ET20 looks really bad on the e34's especially the rear, ideally you want < ET10

68 is cool but gone are the days of 17" wheels in my opinion.

Now thats a timeless look :blowheart:
17's are perfect for an E46 in my view... 18's max, anything bigger and it looks hideous.

If you're not a fan of the style 68's, then style 135's is the only alternative in my book, bar BMW Performance style 269 wheels.

My first choice wheel was the VMR710. I got the quote from VMR:
$850+ $666 shipping. Then our beloved customs come into play also.

The single guys dont laugh:RedNo:
I showed the wife the quote and told her it would come to about 25k+ for the wheels. Her answer: So the wheels are a 3rd of the price of the whole car::fencelook:

I did not have a come back on that:smashScreen:

I believe it is called consultation these days:fencelook:

With regards to the vanos unit. Can someone please tell me if this quote from the dealer is on par? Estimate: R3070 labour only.. New gears/parts R2900..

Thanks

I'm trying to figure out what gears they are talking about. To be honest I wouldn't trust a dealership.. They generally Don't have a cooking clue about the vanos seals remedial work..

There are no gears to be replaced in a VANOS repair. The dealer will only be able to replace the complete VANOS units. They will NOT be able to replace the VANOS seals or install a rattle kit. And if they replace the complete VANOS units, you are in for a lot more than what they have quoted you.
Best bet would be to drive the car to Alexander and co to get the repair done, or replace the VANOS seals DIY.

There are some places in Cape Town that can do the work for you .. Just not a dealer.

That sounds like a plan. When I take it to KSD for a retune they can do that at the same time.
