My BMW E46 330i - The stuff of dreams

Hey all,

So three weeks ago I picked up my new car, a 2001 BMW E46 330i Titan Silver. The car has brought nothing but a continuous smile to my face!

I am quite besotted with the car, washing it sometimes three times a week and the rest of my time is spent cleaning, polishing, waxing or restoring the car.

I have done a couple mods already and as funds come in I will continue to mod her tastefully.

Cheers!

Welcome to the club. I just love mine as well. How about some more details like milage, spec.

Well it's a pre-face lift, Manual, black leather interior with fine wood trim. Adjustable memory seats, HiFi Speaker systems, M Aerodynamics Package (I believe it is M-Tech I?), multi function sports leather steering wheel, PDC, and my VIN number print out indicates that the car came without Catalytic converter(will try and confirm that), originally had bmw style 44 17" alloys on it, but now only a spare wheel in that guise(which I am refurbishing). The current wheels are TSW Spa 17" with brand new Yoko tyres on them:rollsmile:
I have a set of BMW style 119 17"s lying around that I've started refurbishing, still deciding what colour to paint them, and will decide whether I like them more than the pretty decent TSW's.
The car has 247 000kms on the Odo

So far have replaced (To get her through roadworthy):
Front Tie rods
Front control arms
Rear differential mounting bush (That was a b1$&@)

All of the stuff I've been able to acquire through the helpful chaps at Goldwagen Centurion:thumbs:

Have seen a couple E46's with the exterior black trim pieces in body colour or "colour coded", It looks especially good IMHO on the Titanium Silver cars.

What do you guys think?

Personally I think a car needs either the Ci bumpers or the M3 bumpers to pull off painted trim....note in the pic you posted...the car actually has M3 front and rear bumpers (or reps) on.

If you really want to do something to your trim, rather delete your front numberplate holder, the car will look a lot better and it really cleans up the front.

Out of interest any idea why the car doesn't have the m-tech side skirts or brake ducts?

That's a good point. I'm still interested to have them colour coded, but perhaps the MTech 1 bumpers aren't the right ones to do it to. I've always had an eye for the M-Tech 2 front bumper, think it looks absolutely perfect on the E46. Not sure if it will fit a 2001 pre-facelift though?

I've wanted to do the number plate holder delete, just need to do more research on how to do it and where to get the part/s.

Regarding the m-tech side skirts and brake ducts, I honestly don't have a clue. I'm relatively unexperienced regarding the appearance of the various kits (stock, sport, m-tech I, m-tech II etc). From my general point of view, my side skirts don't appear to be stock, as they do have a sporty aggressive design to them that I simply perceived to be part of the m-Tech I kit . If someone could enlighten me regarding the various designs etc, I'd be very thankful.

Unfortunately at the moment, since I've only owned the car for three weeks, preventative maintenance is number one on the priority list. I'm currently troubleshooting my faulty AC and chasing a minor oil leak. Once that's covered and a basic service, the mods will rise to top of the list
