So here's an update on the car:
The minor oil leak was the oil filter housing gasket. The only way I diagnosed it was by removing the entire intake manifold (I assumed it would be easy!). After completing that horrible task I saw the accumulated oil on the side of the block which was evidently coming from the OFHG. So that's been replaced and at the same time I replaced most of the crankcase ventilation system hoses as the one leading to the dipstick was cracked, got Meyle replacement hoses from Imcomex, at the same time I had the vanos oil line rebuild and new washers fitted too. Have also replaced the serpentine belt, ac belt, ac tensioner pulley and alternator idler pulley.
I've been itching to replace my worn and cracked windscreen washer fluid reservoir. So today I went past Bemow spares and got a decent second hand one and a couple clips for interior trim.
Next up is an early oil change and engine flush.
Would also like to do the vanos soon, so I'll speak to Moranor @axis.
Will be prepping the car to paint the rear diffuser. The previous owner had it painted (poorly) silver which is now flaking and looking rather ghastly. Will be returning it to original black.
Here's some before and after pics of the new windscreen washer reservoir fitted. I think it really tidies up the engine bay.
