just found AP coilovers they go for about the same price as V maxx but they built in the KW factory and everyone says they way better than the other cheap coilovers... I think im going to contact Eibach in EL and see what price they give me on their springs and coilovers then decide from there... I have seen Eibach coilovers going for about $650 which is very good for what you getting if i can get similar prices here i will almost definitely go for that...

I really dont know where to go on this so far these are my choices for the e46:

V maxx R4000
AP R4500
Eibach coilovers +- R5400
Eibach springs and Bilstein shocks +- R5000
BC R7500

AP sounds like a better option than vmaxx for the extra 500 :idea: but judging purely on price the eibach coilovers seems like a good option. are you sure the eibach coilies are only +- 5k? i thought they were +- 10k

I know but i have found them on a number of sites being sold at that price... if i can get near that price here i will definitely go that way

sorry about the cell phone pics, i snapped some pics with my camera but dont have it on me atm.

the rear looks low enough for me but the front can drop about 30mm or so more, the rear is also about 2mm too wide so im going to roll the arches and we good to go :rollsmile:

just got a quote from Eibach:
springs: R1955.80 excl. vat :)
coilovers: R10619.40 excl. vat excl. vat :(
springs and shocks R8138.90 excl. Vat :(

sank got e46 Bilstein shocks for about 3k so i think im going to go with the springs and Bilstein shocks :)

excellent! thanks for posting :clap: i think you made a mistake with the coilover price. :dunno:

i think im just going to go with the springs for now, need to check the eibach spring rates :idea: i hope its just a little firmer than stock.

how much lower are you planning to go? cant wait to see how it will look on your car.

lol that seems more realistic.

ok so i found this on another forum, its for an e36 M3 but its a nice comparison. but the eibach is a progressive rate so im guessing these are final rates.

Spring -> Front Rate -> Rear Rate

Stock E36 M3 ->105 ->335
LTW E36 M3 ->138 ->402
Eibach Pro Kit M3 ->148 ->428
Sachs M3 coilovers ->215 ->395
H&R 29910 (Sport) ->200 -> 380
H&R 29910 DTM(Race) -> 345 ->515
H&R Coilover ->340 -> 380
Dinan ->150 ->400

I got a quote of R8700 for BC Racing coilies.... not bad if only I didn't order Monroe's for my car

BC have a few shock bodies that they put different tops and bottoms on to make them fit different cars... (most cheap coilover kits do similar things to this)

not knocking BC because of the cheap coilovers they definitely seem the best but...

I can offer you Koni non adjustable shocks for R 5080 and adjustables for R7990 these have been developed for the car and have had extensive testing done to make sure they enhance the cars handling not just a guess at what should be good for handling...

if you go on the BC site they only state that the coilovers are tested to make sure they fit correctly... no mention of testing for performance at all...

If you go for a good shock brand like Koni you know you fitting one of the best and in the end thats why i chose to use it on my car...

hey guys, sorry no worthwhile updates yet. havent had the time or money to do anything on the car because im getting married next week. all ive done is change the rims to 17's.

for bc's thats not a bad price at all and from what i hear is a good set. ive been doing alot of thinking and planning on the suspension, and for me personally id rather go for a good spring and shock combo and invest some money in some good sway bars, mountings, bushes etc because i dont think ill see much time on the track (if any at all).

what moranor says makes total sense, along the lines what i was thinking. excellent set of damper adjustable shocks and springs to match, rather than a mediocre set of coilies, and if thats not good enough then the only other option would be a set of race spec coilies.

those wheels look great on the e36 :)

thanks bud :D

for some reason i was unhappy with the 18" look. i know alot of guys prefer it, but it was a bit too big for me, and i didnt enjoy the ride at all. i think it looks much better like this and a MUCH more pleasant ride.

im planning on moving the rears to the front and widening the front (which will be at the back) 1.5" on the outside and running 255 tyres. clearance might be an issue but nothing some flared arches cant fix :rollsmile:

just make sure you get them widened properly so its safe :)

i prefer a square tire setup (same size all round) i feel 255 will make the car a bit boring to drive... the other option would be to space the wheels so they sit nicely in the arch :rollsmile:

i also prefer the look of 17" on the e36/46...

safety is my main concern, you 100% correct there.

255 might be a bit wide but im hoping not boring, but then i could still go back to 245 if i have a problem, i have 245 yoko's now and loving it.
