Just a quick update. I took my ride back to the dealership yesterday morning and they came back to me confirming that there was indeed a problem with the drain channels for the sunroof and that is has been resolved.
This is all good and well but the mechanics/technicians must tell me if this is a factory/production flaw and if it's now fixed for good because I don't want to encounter the same problem down the line when I'm washing the car or if I'm caught in a major downpour.
For my own peace of mind I need some sort of guarantee that I won't experience this problem ever again.
Perhaps ask them to show you the drain channel exit, and if it is somewhere easily accessible, for instance in the engine bay near the windscreen or such, then you will be able to keep a check on it.
It will usually get clogged if the vehicle is parked daily under a messy tree or similar.
