Why not get some blackline taillights?

Obviously that would be choice number 1. But considering this mod cost me 50 bucks and a few hours of my time vs 6k+ for black lines?

Geez love this car, glad you did the exhaust these engines have a nice tone to it

Thanks bud. Doing exhaust mods is probably my favourite mod to do. I just need to hear how this 6 cyl beast sounds:cartel:

I signed up for the Free track day at Redstar this weekend, but I didn't want to finish my expensive runflats around the track. So I've been looking for a set of wheels I could use as an extra set and maybe fit some semi's.

Unfortunately these cars have a very uncommon offset and wheels that fit are scarce

A friend of mine has a nice set of genuine BBS split rims that I thought I'd try.

Unfortunately they don't fit :thumbdo: I would get rubbing for days!!! Its a pity because I think they look awesome!

The cars looking super sick. Always been unsure of a black car. But this has convinced me to get my next BMW in black :)
Can you explain in a little more detail how you did the black lines on your tail lights? Would like to try it on my F20

Thanks for the kind words bud!

I'm loving the black car but I think its going to be a different story once the rain starts...

Well this is how I did the lights:
1) Get some lamin-x film used to tint lights.
2) Remove tail lights from the car
3) Carefully measure and draw out the shape you want and mark using a whiteboard marker or equivalent.
4) Use a sharp knife or a stanley blade and a ruler to cut out the sections you don't want tinted.
5) Use soapy water and wet the surface of the lights slightly to help prevent bubbles and the make the film easier to apply.
6) Carefully stick the film on the lights starting on the flat sections working your way out with your fingers.
7) Use a hair dryer or something to heat the film slightly to make it easier to apply around corners and the edges of the lights.

Trust me bud its hard work to get it anywhere near perfect...

After a few days you can cut the extra edges of the lights and the film should stay stuck on the lights without lifting up...

Good luck!

Ok cool, I see. I wonder if one could open up the tail light and do it on the inside? even a double layer or something.
But otherwise, very cool and cheap mod!

I recently got hold of a AFE intake kit with air scoops :tiptoe:

Super easy to fit and I think it looks OEM+

I haven't logged or anything as of yet but I think there are gains to be had.

On to the install pics. I'll have to take some better pics in the light.

Have you considered losing the chrome kidneys and going for a glossy black?
Could also look cool. Might make the front blend into itself a bit too much though...?

I have considered this but I don't want to murder the car too much. I have another plan for the kidneys... Just need some time and a few bucks:tiptoe:

Time for an epic update!

I had my car Ceramic coated by CeramicPro. It was a pleasure to deal with Dieter and Tiago and they went out of their way to work their magic on my car. There is no point in me trying to explain how epic this product is. The pictures speak for themselves. I haven't taken proper photo's yet but you can see from below how shiny the car is!

Look at that deep wet look :praise:

I really couldn't be happier! Big rave to the CeramicPro team!! :clapper::clapper::clapper:

Looks Faptastic. Great job.

Thanks boet!

One or two weeks ago I joined fellow BMWfanatics at the dyno day at KAR. I decided to put my car on the dyno to get an idea of the power it is currently making.

With the JB4 on map 2 and with downpipes and intake I managed 225.6 wkw and 480 Nm. Not too bad but i feel it should be more... Oh well!! The car still feels amazing!

Cheers!!

Car looks great PD, like your mods.
Power does sound a bit on the low side, but maybe its just me who will also be expecting a bit more from mine... :=):

Thanks for the kind words! Not sure why the power is a bit down... Will investigate a bit. Maybe its just the heat!

BMS claims like 260+wkw with these mods:hammerhead:
