Do the pre Steptronic have the PRND321 (or something like that) layout?

Yup, that's the one with the lever that goes all the way to the back seat

Never driven one and I don't think I'd want to either...

That is very clean for the km's.
Thanks for sharing...seems like all OEM's are going crazy on the oil change intervals.

This is what the unit looked like upon removal.

The bore is basically unmarked.

And here is the piston.
The first one I have seen this clean.

Set the handbrake as it was loose and took the opportunity to do it the way I do it on my cars.

Oh and rear pads as well.

Rear suspension will need attention, but that is for another day.

Thanks for the update Peter.
On a side note but very relevant - I've said this before but I feel it needs another mention. I'm truly grateful and appreciate your honesty, attention to detail and invaluable knowledge that I've always experienced through my engagements with you.

In this day and age it is very rare that you meet genuine people like yourself. You constantly keep me updated with progress on my car, you always willingly provide detailed diagnosis and recommendations based on the best way forward without any intention to benefit your own pocket.

No words can describe your character and I just want to thank you for looking after my pride and joy. I've observed your approach to many fanatics cars over time and on every occasion you treat their assets as your own and this is truly remarkable.

I commend you kind Sir!

Front wheels were frozen on the hubs with oxidation.
Most appropriate that copper ease is used liberally(at the coast) and conservatively (on dry climatic conditions) to coat the surfaces thus preventing rust and oxidation.

If one were to have a puncture on the side of the road the amount of manipulation required to loosen the rim from the hub would have unsettled the car off the jack.

Looks like a good work out...who needs gym?
So what is the next step for these?
