Mini Service Plans

Hi all

Recently acquired the 2017 Cooper S Countryman that was for sale on the forum.

The car is due for a major service. Mini Midrand sent me quotes for the service plans.

The service plans are valid for 3 services or 3 years.

Given that the car uses a 'usage based' service schedule and not a fixed service schedule, is the 3-year period worth it? We won't do much mileage with the car, so would it happen that in 3 years, the car may only require 2 services?

The 'maintenance' plan only adds brakes into the items covered and the price differential is way more than what a set of discs and pads will cost from Goldwagen, so I'm just looking at the service plan.

Thanks in advance.

Not really worth it unless you're doing the mileage IMO... Only the oil service plan seems like value for money.

As an example, on my Countryman, the car just went for it's first service (Happened to be annual for the first service, car has done 8000kms). According to the OBC, the next service is only due in 18 months or 20000kms :poop:

Will have to pay out of pocket for annual oil changes.

So in 3 years you could end up with two services, not sure how much that service plan costs but you would just have to weigh up your options.

Thanks...this is the kind of feedback I was looking for.

The 3 year service plan is R13 395. A major service seems to be about R7 500 (still waiting a formal quote). So the next service, which will just be an oil change, would need to cost more than R6 000 for the plan to be worth while.

If it was definitely a service every 12 months, then I probably would've taken it. I think BMW is banking on the cars only needing two services over the 3 year period (for most cases).

The engine oil + filter service is just over R3k (including VAT).

They definitely are counting on you only “needing” 2 services.

the brakes can be done at any repair centre, just get the parts from GoldWagon nd you will be fine.
service on the other hand, i think BMW has those like package deals for the oil change etc, get that.
other items you can pay for.

the main thing is that you are doing low Mileage.
