Maxtrac coilovers

back from the dead, if you guys had to suggest a good DD coil over setup, car wont be tracked so dont need too stiff, just a good replacement for my worn out old shocks, and also would like to go quite low as well, its for an E46 m3

Thank you for resuscitating this thread I've been thinking about this ever since I fitted new shocks couple weeks ago....

I'm also looking for coilies but not for track purposes, just for the looooooow of it

The spring/shock combo is fantastic but theres a time when speedbumps turn into mountains & I need to raise the car a little....

thing is i want to go really low also, so normal lowering spring not an option. Looking at ST, v maxx, BC racing, ground control etc all seem to be within the R7k price range

I really dont see the point in riding around on crap dampers incase i need to raise the car a little?

I would rather make a spacer up to lift the car if i absolutely had to... adjusting coilovers is not a 5min job and you have to for alignment when you change height because your angles with change with the ride height...

again if you care how your car handles and rides dont buy crap dampers :rollsmile:

of the lot BC is probably the 'best' but KoniSA take off alot of these cheap coilovers to replace with proper stuff... make sure you keep your shock mounts or you will have to pay for new ones if you not happy... 7k is alot of money to spend on something you might not be happy with...

then again you cant go super low without addressing control arm angles so handling and ride goes out the window anyway...

If you look at the cheap kits they all lower more than proper kits because they dont care how it affects the car...

Lastnight a little big birdie told me of a brand called KW :fencelook: & theres JOM...

Indeed, but how long does spacers take to fit compared to adjusting height for coilies ???

KW is a proper coilover they wont go for 7k...

yellow speed is the same as BC and D2 they the same with different valving and spring rates

I've only heard bad things about V Maxx coilovers though :thinking:

JOM is real kak like Vmaxx i would not fit that to my mother in laws car...

if you want to do it cheap you going to have to cut somewhere if height adjustment is important to you then you get kak dampers... if you get proper dampers for good handling and ride then you get a fixed ride height... there is no magic company out there that can deliver both at a cheap price...

Doomsdaya I only make a few hundred of a pair of shocks where am i going to find discount

nothing wrong with ST but H&R have a coilover range at similar prices...

I will never say my products are the only ones that work there are a few out there that also do a great job that i do not yet sell

but what grinds me is people who say they love and appreciate their fine German engineering then go and fit some rather laughable cheap 'Chinese' crap all in the name of getting 'coilovers' because you know 'coilovers' are awesome it does not matter how they made...

If you looking for a damper setup Koni Sport is great and you can use the dampening adjustment to fine tune your handling and ride... where the bilstein B12 are better is under very high grip levels, spring rates and down force not what you get on a street car even if you have semis...

nothing wrong with Koni sport on street/semi slick tires and the dampening adjustment is quite useful if you want perfect handling

the Bilsteins i get are though my Eibach supplier so i cant get B16

I assume you want for an e46 M3?

Its a -20mm Front and -10mm Rear R 12,380 (because of M3 inflation factor most kits come in under 10k)

Yes its for an E46 M3. Mmm I wonder if that drop is going to be enough for me ...
