Had my car and my brothers 320D booked in yesterday at Leo Haese.

Dropped the cars off at 8.00am, and they were ready at 13.00pm

The only gripe I had was that they washed the cars when I told them not to

Had mine done on the 17th of last month and still had to go back on the 27th as they forgot to take the s/n of the part or something, and then still managed to put a dent in my aluminum trimming. But like he told me they dont have any tool that could cause that damage.

Gents as mentioned pls call more than one STEALERSHIP. :YesNo:

I called SMG Pietermaritzburg up & they said my car was not part of the recall:RedNo:.

A quick call to Auto Umhlanga revealed that both my e46's require the airbags replaced.

Hi Guys

Only got the notice now to have the Airbag replaced on my E46.
If anyone out there still drives an E46 please call BMW SA and have them check your VIN number.

Hi bud.

Theres an entire thread on this called "Outsanding campaigns" which our resident dealer posted. You can ask him to check whether your car is affected and he will also organise booking of the car. His name is John

Yeah I also received that letter with the same 14 October 2014 date. The 1st weird thing is the VIN number for a car I only bought in 2016? I then emailed BMW to check what the recall was for, the response:
"Good day

Thank you for contacting BMW Customer Service Department.
Please note that there was a Service Campaign on your vehicle which the BMW dealer acted on in 2014.

Currently there are no service campaign on your vehicle, you may ignore the letter it arrived late to you.

I trust the above is in order

But when I had John run the VIN via the useful thread he created, the car needed to go in for the airbag recall? So now I have no idea? I tend to take John's word over the other person and find it quite concerning BMW SA doesn't seem to know what the hell is going on. I've now got it in writing from BMW SA there are no outstanding issues on my car and I think there actually is. Lets see where this goes............

Hi Guys,

when you contact a dealer there are two systems they need to check for campaigns, one is what we refer to as CIA system and then there is the CAESER WXE. It sometimes happens that the campaign is released in Germany and reflects on the CEASER WXE system which is Germany based but the CIA which is more SA based hasn't been updated. This I have found lately on a number of vehicles especially on the E39 and E46's with the air bag.

If in doubt send me your details and I will check both systems for you.
I maybe that the person checking it on the other end of the line only checks the one system.

When I spoke to BMWSA yesterday they are aware of the postage date error (2014)(outsourced company made a mistake).

Regards

Hi Divo,

WOW, I am blushing, nice intro. Thanks.

What has happened is that the company which is sending the letters on behalf of BMWSA have made a mistake with the dates. There is now a campaign out for some of the drivers side air bags which now also need to be replaced. I have had a lot of queries about this, if you received the letter then there would be a campaign outstanding on the vehicle. If you can send me your vin I will double check it for you to confirm as there are two systems I need to check to make sure. It appears from the enquiries I have received that in some cases the dealer (which was contacted by the owner) may have only checked on the one system and said there isn't one outstanding were on the other system there is. I have taking this up with BMWSA and they aware at date issue.

Once again send me your vins and I will check them myself, even if you had the passenger side done recently. The driver side campaign is very recent so on previous enquiries it may not have shown yet.

Regards
