Maintenance Schedule Suck

Is it only me, or is this scheduled maintenance on BMW a real pain in the butttt... ? 2 months ago I had to take it for brake fluid... in 2,000km I need to take it for front brake pads.... then in 6,000km for normal service.... and back brake pads 14,000km later.... so, probably within 6 month I need to take it in 3 times !!!...

Well I wouldn't be as hard to say that it sucks.

If its on MP, then at least its already dealt with.

I have found from personal experience that I would rather know that something will need attention rather than find out the hard way.

Just my 2c.

It can suck bro...took mine for an oil service last month...now it says "service due", and apparently it's just a vehicle check which costs R700 @BMW :RedNo:

As a German company, and or even any company, I would expect them to manufacture or schedule part s and services to be replaced at yearly or 30,000km service intervals ?? .. surely they should save money or admin, setting up costs, labour etc..... and frustration of customers have the inconvenience of making the booking and arranging to get to and back from work...

Remember on a BMW these service items are based on usage. The harder you drive and brake, the faster those items wear.

Would you prefer to have wear items such as brake pads/discs replaced at regular intervals, running the risk of throwing away perfectly good parts with usable life left in them, or having scored discs because the pads wore out before the scheduled service?

You can always book an F1 service at the dealers, then your car will be serviced in an hour or so while you wait and have a cup of coffee.

If you have to leave the car there, most dealers will drop you off somewhere and pick you up again to collect your car.

Yeah, drive style determines your brake pads etc.. but still they must be able to schedule the different services together more closely ? like front and back brake pads... oil and brake fluid.. . besides, you will always have brake pads with uneven wear, left to right, so, you will end up throwing away pads with life left on them.

Waiting an hour for a coffee, or being dropped off and collected again ultimately disrupts your day by 2 hours plus, do that for 3 to 4 times a year.
