Clutch kit is still sitting in Germany - should land in SA early June sometime :( Will keep everyone updated with the progress. Can't wait to get back into the M5

Maybe I'll pop into SMG today just to sit in the car.

Don't they charge you storage for the car??

Usually they would I think. They doing me a favour, and the car's tucked away in a corner out of sight :)

In progress:

  • Clutch and flywheel replacement

To do:

  • Propshaft couplings
  • Rear stabiliser bushings
  • Oil filter mountings
  • Replace both fuel senders
  • Diff oil
  • Spark plugs
  • Sort out passenger seat twist
  • Sort out passenger side mirror motor
  • Drivers side back window
  • Bonnet & small paint touch-ups

Completed:

  • Oil change and new oil filter. Replaced with Mobil1 10W60 Fully Synch oil. OEM oil filter

And so the list keeps growing. When I'm finished though, she'll be as neat and tidy as Sith's :joy:

Nice Jeff. I see you are taking good care of your baby.

You will be behind the wheel before you know it.

Quick update on things.
My clutch and flywheel is landing in SA with Rolf next week sometime. I've decided to keep the car at SMG until payday when I can fit the propshaft coupling.

Finances said a big no to get that done next week too :(

Will be around the lifts when they re-fit everything, so I should have some pics to show you guys. After that, it's bushings and PS hose leak.

I miss my beast.

Nothing quite like being without your wheels for weeks... it sucks, I know.

Just whatever you do, don't leave the dealership without checking the entire car from top to bottom so you can call them out on anything that seems off or is missing. Considering that your car was detailed shortly before it went in, I would check for scratches first thing.

Photographer friend of mine travels a lot and always takes his cam bag on as hand luggage - and we are talking about a large rucksack type cam bag with loads of pro lenses and a number of cam bodies and other equipment. I think a tad over 20kg, oh and his Apple MBP of course!

Well Philip..... your friend seems have be a charmeur at check-in
I always battle to get my 110kg total weight through :roflol:

BTW my personal record still stands at 157kg Frankfurt - Cape Town but I've got to admit that this was at times when they didn't know about a 32kg per piece limitation..... :joy:

All the good time are gone
