Maintenance for Jeff's M5

Agreed that R17k is insane for a flywheel. I'm trying to source one locally now.
Once that's sorted, I'll do the rest month after month - along with selling a few of my belongings :(

From what I can see in the links I posts, this is the LUK part no.

Anyone who supplies LUK parts should be able to get it for you.
Good luck :thumb:

I think it will work if you use the S85 Flywheel and clutch. I'm no expert though. Maybe Rick540, Uber, or clutchplate could verify for you. Or you could ask on m5board if you want to try and make sure.

Looking at the picks of a S62 below, you will see that the flywheel is bolted on via those 9 holes which looks the same for the S85 flywheel. But again, I'm no expert. Check with someone who's done some work on Flywheels and clutches as they will know details I don't. Uber Soldat converted is E34 540i 5 speed to a 6 speed and might have some more info for about swapping flywheels and clutches in general.

Hang on, I see you are selling the clutch in another thread, surely that means an update is due?

Clutch is for sale, the one I bought from SMG.

Mike's sourcing a clutch and flywheel, since that's stuffed. When it lands and the details become final I'll post up again with what's happening :)

If you already have the clutch why not just source the flywheel?? Get the LUK part. It will be 100%. What happened to the E60 flywheel and clutch?

Ja it's a bit of a backwards way of doing it, but I need the cash. And why spend another R5k just to get the flywheel when I can get the full kit for another R3k... that's my thinking of things.

I'm with Mr Ford on this one I don't get it. So you are getting a new LUK clutch kit and dual mass flywheel for R3k?

I think this is what is happening.

Option 1: Buy Flywheel
Fly R5k
Clutch (jeff has already bought) lets call it R7k
Total: R12k

Option 2: Buy entire kit
Sell current new clutch to recover cost.
Buy Clutch and Fly Kit from Mike: R8k
Total: +/- R8k

8 < 12, hence he's doing option 2.

And correct. Only other car I can grab a clutch/flywheel from is the 850Ci. So full LuK clutch kit it is.

That sucks. Figured it wouldn't, but also thought it would be a pretty cool MOD :)

Having an E60 flywheel in the E39 would be amazing.... but apparently they're a complete mis-fit :(

Will keep you guys updated as soon as the clutch lands.
The plan is to fit the clutch and flywheel along with the propshaft coupling - bushings and slow leaks will be fixed at the end of the month.
