M3 vs 335i?

Howzit Peeps!
First off let me explain that I'm not causing a war here between the N54 and S54. :fencelook:
See myself and Rommies had a run in with a 335i yesterday. We came down Allandale towards Kyalami when we saw a 335i gunning it in front of us. Unfortunately the traffic was a bit tight. However, as we got to the Kyalami road intersection it cleared on the right hand lane so i gunned the M3 with the 335i in front of me. First and second nothing happened but as i hit 3rd i started gaining noticeably and by the time i hit 4th i overtook him. Then we had to let go as there was traffic again. I was quite exited to get him at the robot in main rd later seeing as we were the only 2 cars in front but then he shot over the red light.
We thought he might not have gunned it but the indications were there... On the first 3 shifts you could see his tail sagging and smoke puffing from the exhausts. Also elevated refs on each change. It looked to be stock as well.

Like I said, no war here... I just want to know if I can be proud as bacon of my 'little girl' :rollsmile:

Hey bud, sounds like you car is running well. Just to clear up, you have an e46 M3 right? Any mods? If youre stock I am very surprised that an e46 M3 could catch up so easily to a 335i. At the coast I would think its def possible, but at the reef I honestly do doubt it. If youre modded its always a different story then. Nice looking car though:bravo:

I rekon a well driven E46M will give a stock 335i a run for its money. Mpower is very underestimated with a right driver peddling it. E36M.2's use to hand it out to 335's at hillfox and thats more than a 400m stretch.

Hey bud, don't doubt your car for one moment. You def won that race:bravo: I am not saying that you didn't beat him, all I am saying is that even e92 M3's sometimes get a surprise from a 335/135i. One way to find out is to run another one and see how it goes. :thumbs: M's have the power to surprise.....

Pere, I believe it's possible.
A certain Z M Coupe surprised me as well, on an uphill nogal. He managed to stick to me like glue, and I was in the 1M.

What would the outcome between a 135i vs a 335i be? Reason I ask is I had a run one night with my E46 M3 and a stock 135i dct which was stock as well. From around 80kph to around 240kp the M3 was around half a car behind the 135i. At each gearchange the 135i would pull out a couple of cm.

So if the 135i is a bit quicker than the 335i in stock I can see this happening. Nice run! :thumbs:
