M2 Diesel (50d)

Good Day fanatics

Its been a while since I've posted on here. I'm not too sure if anyone has seen or brought this up before so forgive me if I repeat this topic that I'm about to talk about and I figured it might spark a good discussion also.

So I was paging through Facebook, and I come across probably one of the most bizarre (in a good way) car builds. So the car is a BMW M2 standard, buuut what makes it different to all the other m2's is that this one is a diesel. Its got the same diesel engine found in the 30d, 40d and M50d cars which stock ranges from 180kw and 540nm to 294kw and 760nm, however this example is apparently pushing 610hp (+-450kw) and 1000nm which is something really insane. The car was built by Grease Monkey Motor Garage who also built an insane M140d example a few years ago.

I know people have said many negative things about diesels and that they sound like tractors, but this built is absolutely insane and I love it. and I also think diesel's are cool, they very efficient and reliable.

Creating a diesel M car is something I doubt BMW will ever do, but I have to admit this is absolutely awesome, its different and I like it.

So what do you guys think of this build ?

Not too sure why this thread posted twice, apologies

This build is proper and they have spent a lot of time on R&D to make this platform really work on track. I really like it a lot

I am so with you on this, I am really excited to see what is next.

The 140d was old to a collector I think...it made mad power then the 250d...I think next maybe be a 450d? :)

Very cool, I love the diesels as well.

Although what is the purpose behind such a build? Surely an M2 motor could be taken to such power levels as well?
Or is it just something different and to show case what they're capable of?

This is insane, I love big power diesel builds - especially in passenger cars (as opposed to trucks).

I’m not saying I 100% agree, but I have a friend whose mantra is “diesel is for making power, petrol is for cleaning parts”

also saw this but if not mistaken it did not start life as a M2 ( was a 220D ), but was converted to look like one, regardless, would not mind owning it myself.

BMW do make an M diesel... the X5/X6 M50d and the M550d. That said, I would love to experience 760NM in a 2 series chassis.
