Looking after an E90 2006 330i (190kW)

These cars are heavy on juice. I had one for about a month before I got my e92 335i. I had the 2006 130i. It was heavier on petrol than my 335I and ALOT slower .i GET 12l/100km on the 335i AND i GOT 13's with the 130I.

I must say it did sound nicer though.

It very much depends on driving style. You can use lots of fuel driving slowly and lots of fuel driving quickly, but in both cases you can use far less fuel just by managing your power and the old trick of using engine braking more than actually using the brakes at the last minute to slow down.

These things don't like sitting still and idling, or lots of stop/start driving with hills etc. But once cruising at speed they eat up the road with decently little fuel!

I always reset my average fuel consumption when filling up and for the first few kilometres the consumption is really high since it is low speeds and getting back into the traffic etc, but after a few minutes it is back down to a reasonable figure.

My E63 M6 was a KILLER on juice! like 20lt / 100 the new one I drove to the coast at an average speed of 160 and got 11lt / 100km. My 135 is also VERY thirsty! like 15lt/100km

Thing is, our cars are not econoboxes so not expected to sip fuel. But take our cars up to higher cruising speeds and their consumption is generally lower than your typical econobox that is then at it's limit of close...

I agree. Just saying that same driving style the 130I was marginally heavier on juice. I think the turbo's and higher torque help reduce consumption when pulling off.You can use your foot lighter..if that makes sense.

It will, turbo is good at making an engine more economical when that is the purpose, and then of course fast when that is the case - but then it will use more fuel simply because it can! :rollsmile:

Apparently the ticking sound was caused by the steering column if i understood my consultant correctly, will know more when i go fetch the car. What i found when going there the engineer shot down the taught of it being the cylinder head and also they were unwilling and uninterested in anything about upgrading the car to the latest specs even though i was willing for pay.

@Promotec Is it possible for me to pm you the last 6 numbers of my vin so you'll be able to tell me what is the latest update available for my car? Or is it against forum rules?
