I have heard lots of ignorant comments from people who never owned or do not work on E90's that quality is poor. On my second one, and I am yet to find fault.

To compare say, a 15 year old car with a 6 year old one, says what exactly? that the one is older and thus there is more evidence of how well they last.

In the same breath it would be silly of me to complain about the F30, I have never owned one, worked on one, or could afford one, to say my e90 is better. Same it would be arrogant of me to say my e90 is better than that of my swaer's e46, as he just spend R6k on a service and pumps, mine has not nearly done the amount of work his car has.

100% agreed of the point I was trying to make

we also cannot discount the impact of the strict emissions laws now in place... shortcuts are most definitely being taken to pass tests and reduce costs...

it is no easy feat to produce a car with the power we want while still using little fuel and producing low CO2
compromises have been made out of necessity...

Its true I have never owned an e90 but I have worked on several and yes its still a BMW and the engineering, mechanicals, tooling and know how is there and there was nothing that really stood out on the ones I've worked on besides a couple nasty door dents, worn out gearknobs and steering wheels and one or two centre consol lid and ashtray lid issues. Besides that they have been fine so far. I state I don't do E90 because this is my ultimate hobby and it includes E36 and E46, my favourite weekend toy and my favourite daily driver to date. I work on all models of BMWs or other cars if it's a close friend or family member or some fanatic has twisted my arm...you guys know who you are...

Im at the dealers once to twice a week and have made friends in the workshops and always go chat when I collect parts and you can learn alot from the guys who work on these newer models and they often show me the clipboard with the invoices under motorplan of what it is costing the dealer on parts that would/should usually outlast motorplan. BMW Dealers are suffering too, not just Joe Public with this reduced life cycle...E90 323i was one that always stood out as a problem child, the 330d they say was the one with fewer issues. Shaun did show me what an e90 330d is truly capable of with a few of the correct mods, still to this day I look at them in a whole different light.
