First of all thanks to moranor@axis for his EXCELLENT service!! :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs: 100 thumbs up. Shipped it right away and got it the next day. We had some issues with the rear shock mounts, it seems they went missing between leaving and the couriers and the shocks arrived without them, reminding us we definitely live in South Africa :fencelook: moranor@axis sorted the problem out snap snap and sent another pair and I received it the next morning(after weekend) at 9am (yesterday)
Excellent service, don't think anyone could wish for better, and sorry to both of us about this RSM courier fail, moranor had to cut his profit off to send me another pair. Luckily I'll be shopping with him in future :thumbs:
So, installed the shocks last night, took 2 hours, 1h30m for the fist shock, and 30 min for the next shock including putting the boot lining back together. It was close to 8pm by the time I was finishing, which meant working in the dark outside, eish. Reversed out my driveway (rather large dips) and immediately felt the pronounced rear end (old shocks were GONE) so the feel is entirely different. I can't compare them to other new shocks unfortunately, but I can say they feel amazing. The back seems slightly "hard", like the feel you get with run flat tires, but about as much as a BMW should, in a really nice planted way, and I'm sure it'll get slightly less when the car is sitting nicely on the shocks. The drive is amazing, compared to my old shocks, the back end feels MUCH tighter, so much so that it makes the front seem loose actually(front stuff still old, need to get from moranor@axis). To steer the car is absolutely amazing, feels so responsive, only thing left is to take it on a highway trip. Will update then. So happy with it . I may not be the best person to ask about shocks on an E46, plenty people say the cars handle extremely well. I can't say at all how these compare to other shocks on an E46. But I can tell you the ride quality on these shocks at the back is much, much better than any car I've ever felt in terms of road feel+drive+comfortability put together :rollsmile::rollsmile:
