After seeing this post and hearing so many of you guys calling this car a write off , I drove very very slowly back home this afternoon ...
I hope they don't write it off , it does not look bad at all , its only body panel damage from what I can see , Maybe the cradle has moved a little , I would repair it .

Individj...please ask your insurer if you can get it repaired at a panel beater of your choice. Then check with pricing with steven@autocaraccessories or autoxcessorise for the pricing on these items. I'm very sure you will be able to get it done much cheaper.

Send me a pm and I'll give you a guys number at BMW parts who will give you good pricing on parts needed.

Please keep an eye on it at the scrapyard/panelbeater while being assessed.
They basically trashed my car and stole (swapped) the M wheels which had brand new tyres…
Take lots of pics and warn them that you know exactly what's on it etc and you have pics as proof.

I am with Leonard, I don't think it is write of, (bumper est. 15k, beading 600 bucks, fog light cover 1000est, paint 5/6k, indicator scarpyard find or 1200).

I doubt you will lose.

But what you should do is it bring to the track(like you said you want to) before it is to late next time. :tease:

i want to track the phoenix 1 Dewald or maybe the Datto

update. just got back to me..write off with genuine parts & can repair with second hand parts

Why not claim directly from the ladies insurance? especially after she admitted to being at fault and take your 3 quotes to them for settlement

could be repaired the way you want it if you follow that route

Than again second hand parts isn't the end of the world if undamaged, They're just body panels at the end of the day unlike mechanical items

You will get basically nothing if you claim through her insurance trust me, not even enough to fix the car and its long frustrating process.

Sorry to hear man, have you decided which way you want to go with this?
Did they give you the breakdown of the damages and their cost if from the dealer?

Also driving a 330i but the E90 :fencelook:

it was like R40 odd k for parts alone so they gave me quotes on 2nd hand parts & came to R31 000 with spray job but ja I'm letting them take it & i will start again with something else.

You generally claim from your insurance and then they will claim from the 3rd party.

I have to go to court next month for an accident I had 4 years ago.

Im sure all insureres probably use the same model world wide - If the cost of repair is more than half the value of the car, then it should be a write off.If you choose to have it repaired then insist on an approved BMW panel beater to do the work - make your e46 look like one of the cleanest out there - dont do what the old school boys used to do - R40 damage -repair for R10k and pocket the rest.
If this is your pride and joy insist on the best repairer to sort.

sorry dude ,but youve lost me with the "claim from the ladies insurance"
Paying your premiums means that you have the luxury of knowing that whatever happens, your car will be repaired or replaced.
once you receive your payout - its between your ins and her insurance to fight it out as to who accepts liability.
if shes accepted liability, and sticks to that story as they always do at the scene but advised not to by their insurer, then youll get back your excess with a no fault claim registered against your account.
Now,this is how its normally done - you need not get involved but insist on the best repair to your car OR say "hell no,that cars been damaged BER and I dont want a car with accident damage history attached.
Then take the payout and splashout on a nice new beemer - lots of great deals going my mates have said.

i hear you...how they do it now you don't get the money..they pay straight to vendor. I'm now looking around at e46 m's that haven't had bearings recall done yet lol or e92 m's that recently had them done...im not keen to buy a car & then have to pay to do the bearings...im not being cheap..its just the principle lol

Suggestion was simply to better the O/P's misfortune/Situation
From experience, If there is a third party involved accepting blame and most importantly your car is still drivable it is best to claim directly from their insurer,

Pro's, No excess, No claim on your profile, No increased premium at your insurer

Con's, Deal with the delays but note you are basically choosing the repairer as you are the one getting the quotes.

Agree with Beezo'z comment somewhat as there are times when the claim is settled on merits if you were partially at Fault, You are only entitled to a percentage of the claim/settlement

Point is the O/P has nothing to loose pursuing this route as the car looks drivable
