Problem is cars values gets less and less, and parts gets more and more expensive,
Had the same problem when I knocked a drunk who ran into the road with my Sabre.
Car's value was something like R35k at the time, parts alone came to R16k, with labor and paint the quote came to R24k.
Wasn't ready to let the car go, so sourced a second hand fender, second hand mirror, new windscreen and had the bonnet repaired, just not to have it written off. In the end repair bill was R14k, parts included.
