OK. Pikchaaaa time.
Finally, the seats arrived, they took 2 months to get these bad boys. Can you believe it?
This next photo is the head before any repair work was done. See how the seats and inside of the valve ports have knocks in them.
This next photo is the head with the half the work done. The seats are now seated into the head and cut perfect to seal off with the valves. Watch the video on Page 11 to see how they did that. As you can see, there is some welding that is still left over for them to now skimm off and carve out to make it perfect. They will then use a special tool which checks that the head seals perfectly and is still the OEM CC's.
This next photo is how Jezebel looks at the moment. No engine at all. Just sitting there waiting.
Here is the infamous engine that MattQ so famously built. I've decided to have the red block repainted black. Not sure why Matt wanted a Red block, but none the less, its all coming off anyway. The New CP piston is in storage and waiting to be placed back into Cylinder 6.
Here is a close up of the damage the bent valve did to Piston 6.
When talking to the engineers yesterday about what happened with my engine, the Engineer was very happy to hear I chose to replace all 24 valves, as he was showing me that more of the valves are actually bent and its not long before they too would drop into a cylinder. Seems that when Matt ran the engine Lean for a bit back with ZeeMax, they seem to have damaged these valves as the engine ran excessively hot.
Good thing the new valves I am installing are Forged Titanium Racing Valves that are built for Endurance racing.
Almost time to get her going.
The head is currently having the welding carved out and ported. She should go to get skimmed come Monday and then the valve shimming can start next week. If all goes well, hopefully we can have the engine back together at Gtech before next week friday.
Its finally getting there. I can't believe we waiting 2 months for just those two stupid Valve seats. Crazy how a R150 part can stall an entire job for months.
