JB4 Review

The car is still completely stock at the moment, except for the tune. We are preparing Laloosh for the 27 March, I assume that would be the Mtuba event you are reffering to? We hope to have the DPs; IC; DCI's installed in time for the event. Not sure if he is going to run with the RFTs or semis yet. He is definitely going to hit the 12s; its just a question of how low...:excited::thumbsup:

Yes the Dp's are still stock for now. I'm trying to sort out my mods before Matuba. I've done a 12.9 at Margate. Hopefully I will improve on it.

I actually think my vbox testing would have better with RFTs but my SO3's are just terrible no grip at all.

So, downpipes done, JB4 installed, what next?

It all seems a bit overwhelming.

Any pointers to the fundi's in Jozi and surrounds that can help me get the hang of this all?

I also recently fitted JB4 on my stock 135i manual, very happy with map1,only issue I'm having is the cruise control accelerating wildly over the target speed, then slowing down onto speed...but its only the 2nd time the car is driven after fitting JB

I am running on map 5. I had the exhaust done by RC Performance in Benoni, the thing I noticed is a huge throttle lag when pulling off, I don't know if this is the exhaust or timing or what. At times, the car is idling at about 100 rpm and other times I actually have to put on the breaks at the traffic lights because the revs jump and it tries to pull the car forward.

Ok, what do you mean by "boards" I bought the JB about a year ago?

You get jb4 with two boards, ie g4 & g5.
G5 is the newer board, where you have ISO.

I personally have had both boards, and in terms of smooth power, g4 wins hands down. With iso, the power delivery is not as smooth and linear as the intergrated board

If you open the jb unit, we will be able to tell you if it is iso or non iso.

But there are jb4 fundi's here, who can help you much more than I can.

Search the forum to learn more about jb4, trust me it helps.

Hey SKYF, i don't own a x35i but the general perception that I read was vice versa with the G5 iso board being the better, smoother one?
would you mind elaborating a bit? I'm not wanting to stir I'm just interested in hearing your experience :ty:

I also have an ISO unit, dont get me wrong power delivery is smooth, very little jerky when you suddenly release the juice after giving a bit,and I dont have issues where the revs are jerky, just idling abit more at 1k after driving like I stole it a bit,its just the cruise control bothering me,I drive up to 120,then set it,and suddenly it accelerates up to 130 and then lets it slow down to 120. But when I say accelerate its the same as me putting foot! You feel the boost, maybe the DME misjudges itself with the boost since the JB intercepts and modifies
