Iphone music not synching correctly on the dash F30

Hi guys,

So I'm not sure if I'm alone in this, but let me explain my situation. When connecting to my car audio via USB, whatever music is displaying on my phone displays on the big LCD infotainment screen. Always. Never had a problem.

My problem is that the music selection where the speed/km readings are ... sometimes play a song or two above or below what it's reading. So if I select Black Eyed peas using the selector on the steering wheel, it's playing Nine Inch Nails. Again, the song is displaying on the iphone and Infotainment screen, but there is a disconnect between what song I'm selecting and the song that is playing.

Throughout the day it will work fine, then it goes haywire and the song selections aren't synching correctly. Is this a problem with the F30 or something else? I took my car to SMG and they couldn't find a problem. They reckon my Iphone needs to be updated to the latest software.

Anyone else have this problem?

Maybe update your car as well to the latest software version as well as your Iphone , It might help? I never experienced this on our F30 Lci

I think there is an official BMW website you can visit , fill in your cars VIN number and download the correct software for your car . Its very easy to do .

SMG updated the software. It was part of their diagnostic check.

Still happening. I haven't updated the Iphone software OS primarily because I dont really have much space left.

Just thought I would find out if other members experienced similar issues on their F30s.

Personally I would believe it's due to having Trent and Fergie so close to each other on the playlist...#just a thought

I've noticed the same on mine though. I suspect it intends to show the next track in line to be played if you were to just press the scroll button down for selection.

It is confusing however.

There's a lot of drama switching between CarPlay and iDrive in the car.
The solution isn't as well designed as I would have hoped.

Some examples;
Can't use voice commands for calling if Carplay is active?

The system sometimes doesn't know which playback to resume after making a call (USB, CarPlay or HDD), so playback just stops.

The system either allows voice commands via CarPlay, OR iDrive, not both.

Much annoyance.
