Are you using rattle can?

Indeed. I'm going through financial hardship, so that will have to do:rollsmile:

On a side note, regarding the interior trim - and I know most of you will judge me for even bringing this up, but this is redonc:

Getting there slowly but surely.
Stuffed up somewhat in the corners by being a bit liberal with the clear coat at some point. Its formed a bit of bump along the edge where it dammed up. As I understand, this can be sorted with some 2000 grit and a few more layers of gloss and clear afterwards. I've only got 220 grit with me, and that is NOT happening. So I'll make due at this stage.

If anyone is reading this in the future and you're looking to gleam anything:
1. LIGHT, even, misty coats - with spray can held about 30cm away from the piece you're painting (That includes the primer, paint AND clear coat).
2. Let each coat dry properly (30min at least) - sunlight and ceiling fans help.
3. Once you have disassembled the grille (3parts - be careful of the clips, they brake when sneezed on too hard), you will find that the actual "grille" part is a way bigger area to cover with paint than you previously expected. So be sure to get enough of everything. I used most of a 250ml can of Gloss Black on two of these parts during one (light, misty) coat.

I'll update if I think of any more tips.

Btw, this is not a DIY guide, this simply me telling people what I did, so it may help others later.
And probably also because I have a deep rooted need for acknowledgement:roflol:

Shining nicely already:

Mid-ClearCoat (and 1st Black Gloss coat on Grille pieces):

It's not really as wet and thick as it appears on the grille part - my flash just does wierd things with this particular surface.

All done. I should have waited a bit longer for the clear coat to dry before I started touching anything. I also got some silicone on the edges :smashScreen:
I'll retry this at a later stage. Looks ok after installation, but I had higher hopes.

Here are a few more pics (flash vs non-flash:

Everything was looking great at this point:

Then I installed way to early and also way too hasty and sleep deprived.
Please excuse the filthy car, sorting that out tomorrow:

I'll get some proper pics tomorrow in the sun. Thanks for reading!

Cheers guys

Thanks bud, I appreciate it. I realised now everything actually looks fine on that pic, but if you get up a little closer, the surface is more uneven than I would've liked. Still, looks beter than they did before with the faded matt finish:=):

Next up: Center Console, started sanding one spot just out of curiosity.

I like the stickabomb trim :fencelook:

Restoration work looks good on the sanded portion - if repainted properly it should look great!

Most of the E46 interiors I have seen all have the same issue with the scratches on the trim.

Thanks man,

Yeah the stickerbomb really grows on you! I was thinking it could work as a background accent, e.g. the black panel piece surrounding the speedo and rev gauges. I've seen it done with CF - which I'm not a fan of. But I think stickerbomb would work leke. With black-chrome gauge rings:chef: Then maybe the tiny panel piece surrounding the accessory buttons like the ASC and HK etc.

I'll keep you posted on the console

Indeed it is. I'm gonna need someone with a mop over here!:biglol:
I will have this one day. I'm not even gonna debate it with myself

You need to get some Stained Glass spray paint (from eBay probably). Or for that matter, any transparent spraypaint.

Just spray the inside of the reflector bowl. Looks awesome. That's how the black out is done as well. I was thinking of doing it with blue, but apparently that could get you into trouble with Johnny Law. Yellow is fine though.

Fark me that e92 is hot.

What's the condition of your door cards? In busy reconditioning them with leather.
