Getting there slowly but surely.
Stuffed up somewhat in the corners by being a bit liberal with the clear coat at some point. Its formed a bit of bump along the edge where it dammed up. As I understand, this can be sorted with some 2000 grit and a few more layers of gloss and clear afterwards. I've only got 220 grit with me, and that is NOT happening. So I'll make due at this stage.
If anyone is reading this in the future and you're looking to gleam anything:
1. LIGHT, even, misty coats - with spray can held about 30cm away from the piece you're painting (That includes the primer, paint AND clear coat).
2. Let each coat dry properly (30min at least) - sunlight and ceiling fans help.
3. Once you have disassembled the grille (3parts - be careful of the clips, they brake when sneezed on too hard), you will find that the actual "grille" part is a way bigger area to cover with paint than you previously expected. So be sure to get enough of everything. I used most of a 250ml can of Gloss Black on two of these parts during one (light, misty) coat.
I'll update if I think of any more tips.
Btw, this is not a DIY guide, this simply me telling people what I did, so it may help others later.
And probably also because I have a deep rooted need for acknowledgement:roflol:
Shining nicely already:
Pre-ClearCoat:
Mid-ClearCoat (and 1st Black Gloss coat on Grille pieces):
It's not really as wet and thick as it appears on the grille part - my flash just does wierd things with this particular surface.
