ICV Help

Hey Guys

I hope someone can offer some much needed advice.

A couple of weeks ago I had slight bouncing idle then as from last week all of a sudden my car has been idling at 1000 rpm every now & then. So yesterday I decided to clean my ICV, got it off & it was quite dirty & sticky. Gave it a good clean & made sure the valve moved freely again. Now my car idles even worse, Idle is still at 1000 rpm sometimes 1100, other times its normal. Also noticed that when I put my clutch in to change gears the revs 'jump' up abit before taking forever too come down. I didnt notice any obvious tears or cracks in the pipes, so not sure if I missed a possible vacuum leak or does this sound more like the valve is now stuck open or faulty & intermittently works correctly hence the 'normal' idle every now & then?

Im going too take it off again tonight & make sure the valve can move freely.

What is the best product too clean it with? Yesterday I used spirits & when I was done sprayed some Q20 in.

Also my idle is not rough at all, idles smoothly, just too high rpm.

Thanks in advance

Well.....

Tonight I took off the ICV again & gave it a thorough clean, more Q20 & made sure that the valve can move freely. Whilst putting it back I noticed that the thin hose that runs from my intake to my valve cover had a tear, so I replaced that. Put everything back together & its even worse now:cursin:

When starting the car the idle is 100% but as soon as you accelerate & tap off the revs just hang at whatever RPM they were at.

Does this mean that my ICV is faulty, ie staying open? Got a quote for a recon one, R969 & then I must trade my old one in. Can you have these things repaired yourself?

Will a faulty ICV show on a diagnostics? Does anyone know where I can get this done in cape town & how much its going to cost?

Is it possible that there is another issue causing this, just seems strange that everytime I clean the ICV the issue gets worse...

Any help would be highly appreciated

Ok

Got new prices, Cheapest R627. Is there anyway to make 100% sure that it is my ICV that is faulty. Would hate to replace it only to find that its something else.

Any thoughts?
