Buy her a Coupe and elevate her hotness level. Of course you may have to fend of a large mass would be suitors :)

For R120k you could get something like this:

2004 330i Exclusive

media

BUT, as mentioned by the other guys, you still need to check out the mileage, service history, etc.

EDIT: Just noticed this car has a nice spec list:
Blue , 125 000 km , Petrol, Sedan, 4 Doors, Steptronic, Tan Leather, Full Service History, Xenon Lights, Glass Sunroof, Electric Seats, Rear Park Distance Control, Electric Rear Blind, Aircon, Multi-functional Steering, Alloy wheels, Cd Player, Very Clean.

I recognize that place from the pictures. I have seen a lot of very suspicious deals from them in the past. In short, if the price seems to good to be true... I would not be surprised if they do clock their cars. But go have a look in any case. Off course, this is just my opinion and in no way based on any real evidence. It is possible that they just have a very high turnover, and can sell cars at such low prices. Just be sure of the mileage and condition of the car. Oh, and remember that if you do finance it through the bank, you have a bigger safety net, although I also believe cash is king.

Go for a 330i auto, it will be more effiecent than a lower powered auto and has all the bells and whistles too, including 17" wheels and big brakes...
I did a spreadsheet of all the e46 models with fuel economy, power, torque, accelleration and speed, the 330i was a no-brainer after that...

I get 650km per tank almost every tank in my 330i and that is not difficult to get when you have 300nm of torque!!! You don't need to rev more than 3000rpm to get going quickly!

Yep, you need to check mileage, history, etc with any dealer. Some of these okes make our politicians look honest.

I did buy one of my cars from this dealer, as they sometimes get good trade-ins - however, while my car checked out ok, I did notice a few "shady" things at this place, including an X5 with a missing cluster (missing on the day I went to see my car and the cluster was back a few days later when I collected my car :mmm: ).

if you doubtful about the km reading tell the guy you want to take the car to bmw for an inspection which you will pay for,
if he then comes with lots of stories, you can be sure the km's are wrong, cause the key, the cluster, and the computer all store the km reading,
so even if the cluster say its done like 90k km, the key and onboard should show differently.
Also, I can do e-natis check for you when you find something you like, to see if the history checks out.
So you are in safe hand here. :thumb:

Also, most E46's just above 100K KM still have FSH at BMW. So if the last service was recent, BMW should have full records of what happened to the car. If you take the car for a test drive, include a stop at a BMW dealer - most dealers do not give you any hassle with service history if you bring the car to them (as opposed to providing a VIN number only).

If the oke trying to sell you the car is opposed to a stop at the BMW dealership, then walk away from the deal.

Also, if you are unsure of how to check a car properly, do the oldest trick in the book. Ask for a long test drive alone - then go to a few other dealers and tell them you wanna trade the car in. Dealers are as good spotting faults/accident damage as they are at hiding them.

It is indeed a proper SMG and not auto (from the pics at least) - don't bother with it, especially on a 330i. Heard of too many issues with them and they are nowhere as smooth as a regular auto box.

They did and as mentioned they tended to be quite problematic, not the smoothest ride either. Would steer clear...
