They were in an Audi RS4???? WTF how many cops drive Audi RS4's, it can't be that hard to catch them, the car must stand out like a sore thumb in the eyes of a cop!

It's sad that the first thing one should do when they're hit by the blue lights is to second-guess whether they're actually dealing with cops. You all say you should head to the nearest garage/police station/public area when this happens, but if you're dealing with real cops then I really don't see how they'd react well if you don't immediately pull over and stop. I've dealt with cops having a bad day, and if I didn't pull over immediately when I did I'm pretty damn sure I would've had my ass beat when I eventually stopped.

An SAPS task force established to probe so-called "blue light" hijacking syndicates linked to police officers has been shut down, according to a report in The Times on Tuesday.

Last week, the 40-strong team was reportedly told to stop all investigations, just days before it was expected to carry out a number of big raids.
Officers were reportedly instructed to hand over information gathered during their investigations.

General Mzwandile Petros, Gauteng's police commissioner, told The Times that there was nothing untoward about the move, adding that such SAPS task teams were "never permanent".
"Nothing has been disbanded. [The task teams] depend on crime trends and we deploy our members accordingly and where our strategies dictate. I am comfortable with the progress made in this investigation and any movement of members is part of a new strategy and change of tactics," Petros said.

But an anonymous officer disagreed.

"There is a lot of rot in our ranks. Some of our own members are involved [in the blue light syndicates]. We know them but we cannot do anything because we need to catch them in the act," the officer told The Times.

"We have been given no reasons why we were shut down. All we were told was to stop everything, including gathering information on planned attacks, and locations of safe houses and weapons."
According to the newspaper, the team was ordered to "take out" members of the blue light syndicate.

"We were given these orders and then 48 hours later we were shut down. We were told to take two days off and then report back to our units," a policeman told The Times.

"It is clear we were doing our job just a little too well. We were about to carry out several raids, which were going to net the kingpins, including police officers."We had good successes. In three weeks, we arrested 38 suspects, recovered 34 hijacked cars, five firearms, R200 000 in cash, R200 000 worth of drugs and killed two suspects," he told the newspaper.

"It is clear someone is looking out for the wrong people's interests

So what really should one do if your being pulled over by some 'police' looking fellows? I would imagine dropping a gear to get out of there will get you into more trouble if they legit. But still better then being hijacked.

I was once chased and asked to pull over in my ex super boss but a white E90 325i
Just didnt seem right to me windows where tinted and it was late, so I went for it, guy chased for for about 1 km then I got away.

I phoned the nearest police station and they said there are no unmarked vehicle by that description.

We live in Africa, trust your instincts guys if it dont feel right and you can get away then rather do it and call 10111, I wonder if one can call ADT if u a customer I think you can?

Sorry to hear about this it really sucks!

sorry to hear about your incident, I hope that you have gotten the correct support to get thru this period.

I have looked at all the posts, but still cannot find out where this took place, what time, circumstances, and what vehicle did they take from you.

I am 90% of the time very alert and observant to my surroundings when driving, when stopping at robots etc, to not be caught up in this type of scenario.

anything that we can learn from this terrible incident ?

Took place in midrand at about 7:45pm and I have an M3 V8. Well I don't know about learning anything but I did whatever they said and just prayed for them to let me go. My advice would be don't try to be a hero if you are caught unless there is absolutely zero chance of them letting you go.

Thanks for the reply.

As mentioned approx 90% of the time when I am driving, even in familiar areas, I am "super" alert, always checking in the mirrors as to who is following, when I stop at robots I leave enough room for an evasive manouvre, and also take note of all the vehivles and pedestrian traffic around me, as too which might pose a threat and what my escape manouvre would be, when driving home I always vary the route and enter me road from opposite ends regularily, and before I commit to the final turn into the driveway to the gate I make sure that there is no-one within walking distance whilst the electric gate opens, if a suspicious car is driving towards me or behind me, I often simply bypas my house completely and drive around the block.....those sort of "learning experience lessons is what I was talking about,

I always hear people say that it happend so quickly and unexpectantly, but what I am asking is if you had been alert to it "going-down", before they got so close as to be able to put a gun to your head, what would you have been able to do to get out of the situation ?

In which area do you stay, this is no way to live.
I dont think its this bad in CT yet but I am always aware as well, because I grew up in a dodgy area

I dont think cops will shoot at you if you do not pull over, unless its not cops or cops they are criminals. I guess one needs to way up the options, if they in a faster car than me(I know you get sleeper cars eg mk1 turbos and stuff) I will not pull over unless I absolutely have to. Even at the illegal racing they wouldnt shoot at u if u drove off they would chase you.

I dont care if they are legit cops or not, If I did nothing wrong and its late or suspicious, why would a cop just pull you over for no reason at night?

so if you guys hear of a high speed chase in CT and its a Blue E36m or a Corsa that be me, when I see 10 cop cars and a SAPS helicopter then I will pull over. I am sure one could explain this in court?

Heard today from an investigator that this same gang shot dead a guy on the same road as they hijacked me. Draw your conclusions from that.

If it doesn't feel right, I will just drive to a police station. If they shoot at me, I will shoot back!

What country is this where we cannot even trust the police.
