Hijacked last night

Devtri: Knowing what you know now, would you have done anything different? or was the hijack unavoidable?

There will always be the what if questions but once they were in close distance to me, I could not get away. The guns never left my head during the entire incident and I was not going to take a stupid chance and get shot trying to be a hero.

Take my advice, get possession of the car as SOOOOOOON as possible, even if they need to tow it to your place, or ask to go out and see the car.

Take service books, tools, hell, grab the ashtray light if you can.

If they need and its damaged, you can have it towed here, anything, your insurance company yard is still dodgy but better then popo inpound...

You don't really get that choice. I was called only after the car was picked up and already on it's way to the pound. They wanted to check for fingerprints, whether she was used in any crimes etc but the okes had gloves on so good luck with that. Going to hopefully see her tomorrow and bring her back on Tuesday. Anyway, going to let her go. Will never be the same to drive her again.

I have looked at all the posts, but still cannot find out where this took place, what time, circumstances, and what vehicle did they take from you.

I am 90% of the time very alert and observant to my surroundings when driving, when stopping at robots etc, to not be caught up in this type of scenario.

Took place in midrand at about 7:45pm and I have an M3 V8. Well I don't know about learning anything but I did whatever they said and just prayed for them to let me go. My advice would be don't try to be a hero if you are caught unless there is absolutely zero chance of them letting you go.

As mentioned approx 90% of the time when I am driving, even in familiar areas, I am "super" alert, always checking in the mirrors as to who is following, when I stop at robots I leave enough room for an evasive manouvre, and also take note of all the vehivles and pedestrian traffic around me, as too which might pose a threat and what my escape manouvre would be, when driving home I always vary the route and enter me road from opposite ends regularily, and before I commit to the final turn into the driveway to the gate I make sure that there is no-one within walking distance whilst the electric gate opens, if a suspicious car is driving towards me or behind me, I often simply bypas my house completely and drive around the block.....those sort of "learning experience lessons is what I was talking about,

I always hear people say that it happend so quickly and unexpectantly, but what I am asking is if you had been alert to it "going-down", before they got so close as to be able to put a gun to your head, what would you have been able to do to get out of the situation ?

also hijacked once,gun against my head,and even though i got my car back a couple of minutes latter all smashed up,i just didnt want it once it came back from the panel beaters,but after about 3 to 4 months started driving the car again.

doesnt help trying to be a hero,life is more worth it than a car

Romeo E.T. I walked around a corner and was looking down the barrel of a pistol.....no warning ....No time for evasive action or heroics .

Even here in East London I have had guys in the traffic look at my e36 and ask how much....I say its not for sale ....Now I approach my house from different routes , pass by if there is a vehicle behind me etc. You never know if there is an order out :argh::argh: must I now not keep the car looking good .
I have a 16 year old 328i and people alwys say it looks nearly new , are we now targets because we look after our cars ??

Devtri I hope all goes well , there are so many questions that go through our heads , we wonder what we did wrong . You did nothing wrong ,we are members of a sick society .

since that have been more alert,but still waiting for that day when bogus cops pull me over.

just make sure they dont make you re-register the car as a code 3,you will lose alot on the value

The most important thing is that you are alive and ok, like mentioned in previous posts it could have been so much worse.

What car were they in a G6?
What are the specs of your M?
Color, DCT, custom wheels etc?
Sounds like the modus operandi of the blue light gang and that you were targeted..

Why doesn't the police go undercover and drive around these areas in unmarked blue light cars Range Rover's, Big 7 series, Mercs and trap these scum instead of harrasing a couple of fanatics that meet up at a garage for ice-cream??

We were chatting about corruption yesterday and I wonder what the percentage of straight arrow cops are in this country. Someone that never took a bribe or anything dodgy which allowed him/her to abuse their power.

It wouldn't surprise me if we hit single digits and this is sad sad sad. I know that it is poor to generalise, but we are at most times left with no choice but to look at just about every situation negatively since this is what we are faced with on a daily basis. Corruption across so many sectors in this country is so apparent and we just have to suck it up.
