Hi and Intro

Hi guys,

I am not currently a BMW owner (I do have a collection of BMW parts though) and have had a couple of the older E30's in years gone by.
I am however an appreciator of fine motor vehicles of all types and ages.

I have become a bit bored and disillusioned by some of the car forums. All the outing you see pretty much the same cars and same people. All my cars have been modded to some degree or other with the emphasise on individuality. Obviously I dont expect everybody to love my tastes but I do try create something appealing.

Anyway I am trying to get other enthusiasts to join me for an all marques parkoff. We have a strong car culture in SA and I think sadly it is being lost as the vehicle becomes a pure status symbol. I want people to see some of the cars they aspire to, some that they may never have seen and how an individual can tailor his vehicle to match his personality.

Look forward to seeing and meeting fellow enthusiasts.

Daryl

Nice Car.

I would love to meet up at an all marques mixer.

I love that Sapphire. A lil more specs on it please.

Is it the 5.0 Litre monster or the 3.0 Litre beast, or the 2.0 Litre cool cat.

I love the Sapphire. Has one of the best rides ever. Even better than my 3 series.

@Freerider - LOL. A warning..... youre funny/

I love my Beemer, but the ride on the Ford Sapphire is seriously nice. It doesnt really matter if my statement is liked or not, cos in my opinion, the ride in the 2.0GL Sapphire that my cousin has is nicer than my e46, and it handles very well.

The Sapphy is a great car, though BMW's are the greatest.

Sierra XR6

Dont go there, or it will lead to a jack thread....man what a car that was. Drove in a brand new model way, way back and oh my, the sound and power...the handling/steering was too light for me though.

Daryl, welcome

Its a 5.0L... which mean sthat chucking it into a corner is interesting with that heavy lump up front. On the list of upgrades are some decent coilovers and bigger disks and 4 pot calipers (Beemer ones actually work well on the Sapphire).

It is fairly standard and not an original Grosvenor or Novell 5.0L conversion. The donor parts came from a XR8. It needs a fair amount of work still, the original convertors did a backyard job and didnt reconnect things like the heater (lack of clearance for the original pipes to fit against the firewall), tore the aircon pipes out the condensor and did a botch job of the wiring. When I rebuild the engine (doing a 331 or 347 stroker conversion) I will attend to these items.

This is what she looked like in February when I got her. The rims are next to go...

I think this thread gives me a certain little amount of bragging rights in terms of originality:)

166kw out of these std 5.0L engines.... now that is just plain sad. Luckily there is much room for improvement.
The ponies is the only thing that i would ever change on mine. I will keep the bodywork std. forever. Oh yes, ST brakes is a straightforward bolt on.

@Fordkoppie - Thats the neatest Sapphy ive ever seen.

Sure it was only 166kw, but it took some real talent to keep it going in a straight line.

Love that car.

And so they all come to light. Looking good, Fordkop!

Any other members want to present their 'hidden' away Fords?
