Please guys my cars alarm goes off every time i lock it. I just lock it, wait ten seconds and it goes off. Its bugging my neigbours and my car has to stand unlocked now infront of my house. Anyone know what could possibly be the problem. All windows closed. Cant see any reason. Recently replaced all my interior lights with LED ones but i dont see how that could be a issue.

Thanks in advance

Check the boot and bonnet switches as these are common causes, also door switches too

had the very same issue.it was the bonnet sensor.disconnect it and switch the alarm on and see if it goes on.if it does not then u know its the bonnet sensor.

I agree, most likely the bonnet switch, just unplug it, if the problem stops you know it needs replacing.

Yup, look at the bonnet switch, most of the times that is the cause. Also you can lock the car without arming the alarm, you can do this by just using the key to lock the car as you would a car without a remote.

Thanks you guys are awesome. But unfortunately it wasn't the switch. Just disconnected it and alarm still went off. And Sankekur if i lock my car with the keys the alarm still sets and goes off a few seconds later.:cursin:

You will most probably have to have the codes read to see where the problem is.

But try this quickly, when you press the button to lock the car, and arm the alarm, leave the button, but immediately press the button again, do not know if it works on your model car but should disable the alarm.
Just thought of something, and I have had this problem in the past. If the car battery is low or on it's way out it makes the car alarm go haywire.

Did you check the boot switch and door switches too...I've had both a door switch and boot switch cause the problem

I would think if it was a flat battery then the car wouldn't start at all......

Thanks so much for the immediate replies guys. Checked the switches StK and it wasn't them. Removed the boot switch and it wasn't that. Weirdly and i don't know how this works i decided to unplug the console for the front interior lights. Switched the alarm on and it did not go off again. Removed the two lights on either side of the console and replaced with other LED lights, switched the alarm back on and seems like, touch wood, all is okay again. Alarm has not gone off as of yet.

Thanks again guys

On the e46's if you do that you disable the tilt sensor and the motion sensor.
(It would actually be handy for you to lock the car like this as well and to see if the alarm still goes off, if it does you can pretty much rule out these to modules)

It is strange that the alarm still arm even when locking it with the key

How did you test the door switches? As far as I know they are hall effect sensors on the e46 and the normal button in a rubber boot.

Piss easy

Plug the car into DIS, go into the alarm counter, see what has been triggering the alarm... fix it :)

Till you have had time to dis the car, lock it with the key, it wont engage the alarm...

Hi Chris,

It could be the sonar module for the interior, it is located right in the middle of the Roof, try unplugging it

So the alarm started with its sh*&^* again today :cursin: Looks like the problem is not solved. I am planning to quickly go in tomorrow to Zeemax to check if the diagnostic machine can pin point the problem but if i can do it now rather it will help because i actually have to be in Stellenbosch at 9 so time is a issue.

StK can you maybe explain how to check the door switches? you talking about the one next to the hazards switch?

Don, tried to remove cable from sonar module but it just wont budge so im gonna avoid it before i break it.

Anybody other ideas please.

Thanks in advance

disconnect the siren, had to do that when netstar went crazy and the siren wouldnt shut up.
if you checked all the switches, and sensors, maybe its a wire earthing out or a dirty earth connection somewhere?not an electrician ,but its all the advice i can give you

So got a diagnostic test done this morning by Zeemax. Big thumbs up for helping me on such short notice even though they were super busy. Diagnostic test showed no errors for alarm system

So guess what it was.. the Tracker system :hammerhead:

Cut a wire and problem solved. Always thought the factory alarm was too quiet but when i actually heard it i realized it wasn't the same sound.

Now i just hope the cops don't think i stole my own car :mmm:

Thanks again so much for all the help guys
