Hi All

Does anyone know how to activate the side mirror tilt when you engage reverse?

I dont know whether it a South Africa model spec because when you watch YouTube videos their car has tilt side mirror feature when they engage reverse on a z4 2013 model.

Any assistance would be gladly appreciated.:ty:

Don't know Z4 but on F30 there's the mirror adjustment 4 way arrow switch and there's the knob to select left or right mirror to adjust. That knob doubles up as reverse mirror tilt on/off so basically just move that knob left and your mirror should tilt.

I have seen this too.

AFAIK, the selector button for the electronic mirror adjustment should be on the left mirror.

I have tried to get the same feature working on my car, no dice as well.

Not sure if its US specific?

I have the E90 320D

Not sure on that specific car but on other models, it's usually activated by moving the switch that selects the left or right mirror to be adjusted. Think switch needs to be set to the drivers mirror side, when you engage reverse the mirror should drop...provided the car has the feature....

The 'side selector' switch for mirror adjustment mentioned by the others is definitely the one on F10. Wouldn't surprise me if Z was the same.

There's a setting for it. Remember turning it on. Will check when I'm home

I have that tilt mirror on my E90  BUT the selector switch needs to be on the drivers mirror for it to work, otherwise nothing happens when I have it on my passenger side

AH! Then I had it wrong.

Will try it on my car that way, thanks for the correction.

On my E46 you slide the adjusting selector to the left mirror position and when you put you car into reverse the mirror should then tilt. If you want to disengage this feature then slide your mirror adjustment switch back to the right mirror position.

I think it only comes if you have folding mirrors as an option..

No, I dont have the folding mirror option but I do have the mirror dip thing.

Also tested it on my friends e90 320d when I found mine can do it, but his also didnt work. You have to have the motor in the mirror etc. But folding mirror option is not required for this.

Sorry to hear OP, do think you were looking forward to this

I also have the dip feature without the folding mirrors option. It would surely just be a software thing if you can adjust the mirrors electronically, but then car manufacturers are often stingy when it comes to simple things that are just software, to the point where things can just be turned on by someone with a PC and the right cable.

I confirmed this works on my Z. The selector needs to be on the drivers side in order for the mirror to dip.

On the E46 the left mirror dip in reverse only works on cars that left the factory with electric seats. Been trying to get it working on my e46 that I retrofitted with electric seats, haven't cracked it yet.:hammerhead:
