I understand why you wouldn't want to make afrikaans films, and why you are catering for the overseas market but the boere english or south african english accent is used in a couple of movies that did good...

I know these are big budget movies but the accent was still used:

District 9
Chappie (worst movie in history)
Lethal Weapon 2
Free Fire

But then again if done badly like in Escaping Pretoria or The Forgiven then you wont find me ever watching that film.

In Vehicle 19 the accents were good I reckon, but the story line was something else.

You'll notice one of the actors in my film was in both District 9 and Chappie.. as well as Elysium. He did an SA accent in all Elysium and District 9 and was the white African warlord in Chappie (Rhino).

Those films do well because they have stars attached. Unfortunately we don't have that kinda pulling strength. You don't pay Leonardo Di Caprio $20 million to be in your film because he is a great actor (Which he is), you pay because he puts bums in seats. Ticket sales.

I never finished Chappie but yeah I saw Brandon in your trailer, how was he to work with?
I've heard he is a bit difficult and he does good with Neill as Neill writes his scripts according to the way Brandon is in real life.
Leo also did the sa accent in Blood Diamond, but im not hammering on the accent because thats how I speak it juts nice to see/hear local in big movies.
In the end you can be like Gavin/Jonathan/Dean who dont show local in their films or like Neill who does, and I think Neill is #1 for S.A. a.t.m.

I was told the same about Brandon... but he was actually the easiest to work with. Had an absolute pleasure with him.
